I'm from Germany and have cancelled my orders from amazon.de as well as from amazon.co.uk. (expected date of arrival 12th-14th March!). I want to play it as soon as possible, because we have holidays the next week. Now it's pre-downloading from Steam and I hope I can play it on the 10 march.

The reason why I bought it from Steam was that the EA-store didn't work for me (Firefox, all scripts allowed). Serves you right, EA.

Figured I'd ask, because I've never had it happen in EADM before. When you finish downloading and it installs...is it supposed to show an installation process at all? By the looks of it, it installed correctly. But I never clicked to install it, nor did I see anything pop up about installing. It just mysteriously installed. lol.

Wow, it's great to see enthusiasm and excitement for something but at the same time it feels like most people here spend all their time sitting in an empty room starting at a giant picture of the Dragon Age logo.

For example, I've pre-ordered from www.gamersgate.co.uk. Under dragon age 2 it sais "release date 11th march". It does say that I will be able to pre-load "x-hours before release date". But thats it....

I tried to email them but no response so far. As I live in Sweden, the game will be released here on the 10th so I don't wanna miss that cause of some digital shops own rules so how does this work?

Any tips/hints appriciated since I'm thinking of canceling my pre-order and get it elsewhere...

I ordered from the .com version of gamersgate. Its already allowed me to preload. Just keep watching your games section, it should change to a green download tab when you can download.

I don't know a lot of these sites people are mentioning, although I know there could be ones with earlier releases or more download servers your normally going to get a really good experience from steam. the pre-order (I have pre-ordered a lot from them) almost always get a 10% discount for pre-ordering and I have never once had a download issue on the day of release of pre download, got my pre download finished within an hour of starting the download.

In short, Use steam and avoid problems!

That stuff isn't going to show up till you can register your game on this site, then the items will show up in your promotions.

I'm also a little confused with unlock times...if they say 0000h for Canada - what time zone is that, or do they mean 0000h in any time zone in the country?

Makes a difference to me if I can play at midnight or have to try and sleep till 0400

EDIT: Nevermind...I think what the post means is it is for the whole country...

I've never done the pre-load thing before No sleep for me!

Strange, just preloaded it on steam (central europe), so i have 5.11 gigabytes of da2 data on my pc. Have to wait for the unlock though...

It seems that the activation is tied to where you bought the game and not where you are actually located. Just finished downloading and installing and the release date check is telling me the game will be released 08 March 2011,11:00 which I believe is the US date and not the South African unlock date. I bought mine from www.gamersgate.com. I hope this sticks, getting to play tuesday will be awesome.

Thats exactly what Im NOT hoping for since I bought the game on gamersgate.co.uk wich states the releasedate is the 11th while where I live it's the 10th! 
Would be crap to have PRE-ordered a game and have to wait while everyone else in my country plays it

Use the CD key they give you for DA2, and go to profile > register games  (same way you register all other Bioware games here).  Won't work till the 8th though, since there is currently no option for DA2.

Promo Codes can be used though.. it accepted mine, but the items still won't show up until the 8th.

when i was looking around online for the cheapest copy of dragon age 2 I found one that was nearly 20 bucks (nz) cheaper than the steam one. Then I saw it was EA store and didn't bother

Bought mine on gamersgate.com as well. Live in Moscow, Russia (+3 GMT (UTC)). Game is to be unlocked at 12:00, 8th March. So could you tell your time belt to figure out the algorythm?)))
