So are you saying we can ignore the unlock time stated in the Release Date Checker?

And in my case for singapore, the game will unlock at 0000hr march 08 singapore local time?

Because right now, the release date checker is showing me "March 08 1700hrs" which is 17hrs late from 0000hrs. My region is Singapore, Asia.

My current time is March 07 1600hrs which is only 8hrs away from March 08 0000hrs.

bought the game from EA Store

I pre-ordered the signature edition on
an EA account different from my usual because the card my usual was
attached to had just expired. I figured that since the product code
would be e-mailed, I could just register that code on this account.

Nope.
When EA mailed the code, it had already been used, because the game is
automatically registered to the EA account you purchase it on. So now
I'm stuck with this mess of using a different account for DA2 and
getting none of that information added to this one.

But that's fine. Going to my happy place. I am a leaf on the wind.

Contact EA support and they will be able to transfer it to a different account.

Is there a possibility you could do away with these "unlocking" times for future releases?  It makes no sense that in a digital age, where I pre-order and pre-download the digital version of the game, to still wait till friday before i can play a game that everyone else is already playing on tuesday.

I completely agree - and doesn't mean we won't try - but it is unlikely (anytime soon).  These are still dictated by brick & mortar retail, and we're obligated to follow 'local' release dates as we can't be seen to either give ourselves or any other individual retailer (e.g. a digital retailer) a distinct competitive advantage over another retailer (e.g. a local brick & mortar shop).  It is physical goods rules trying to be applied to a digital age, and that's why it falls apart, but there you go.

What about steam? Release date is schedule to 8 March 0000 PST?

Steam and D2D pick their own times to unlock the game in fact D2D will be unlocking theirs at 10am PST.

This is not entirely accurate. I know some individuals who have managed to input serials into their D2D downloads so they could install the game (don't ask). These individuals have found that the D2D "version" has the same Release Date Checker as everyone else, which, like everyone else, is indicating 0000 Alaska Standard Time (adjusted to their respective timezones of course). If D2D comes to their senses and releases the keys earlier than their generic 10 am PST time (keeping in mind that that is a blanket generic time they always give for games), then D2D users will be in the same boat as everyone else. If their keys aren't released earlier than the generic 10 am PST given, then you are correct in that the Release Date Checker is meaningless and it's just whenever they get their keys.

The point being, there's nothing special about the D2D "version". It's the exact same files as everyone else. Only Steam has a slightly different "version".

As for the Steam version, they also use a Release Date Checker, but everyone I know with Steam when using it has not been given a specific hour time, just a date. So, it's anyone's guess what the Steam version, being the unique snowflake that it is, is doing when it comes to unlock times.

Right I know it will still have the Release control but I meant was that D2D will be releasing the keys at 10am PST so the release control is pointless to them same to Steam if they don't release until 10am. Usually they unlock their games between 10am -1pm very rarely have I seen a midnight unlock with them.

This is dumb. So why have this huge hype on midnight if most places wont have it much later. Doesnt make any sense.

Yay, just got the preload e-mail! I'm sorry if this has already been asked on the previous pages(I've been too busy talking to EA support) but how will the SE and preorder bonuses be activated? Will they appear on the list of my promotions when I register the game on this site or will I receive another e-mail with codes?

If true, that's fantastic, because I already sent a message yesterday to this effect, and I considered it a long shot. Thanks.

I hope your right. =] I would really hate to have to wait till 10am PST or in my case 1pm EST. Becuz on the site it says "please return to this page to get key at 10pst". So I'm hoping when I wake up tommarow, I'll have a key waiting for me via email. :pinched:

Well, I was talking about your pre-order bonus codes (ie: sword etc). Your actual serial...well, you may get screwed unfortunately. Can't pretty that up any. D2D uses that generic 10 am PST time a lot, so it's hardly set in stone, but I wouldn't count on them giving your key at midnight. :(

The EA Store's keys aren't immediately useful, anyway. They register the game to that EA account without you needing to enter the key manually.

If you're seeing DA2 in your ‘My Games’ in EADM with ‘Unreleased’ below it,  I recommend checking that this EA account's e-mail address is verified. I had no idea that my address was unverified all this time, but as soon as I did it, my ‘Unreleased’ link turned into a preload link.

Try contacting them here http://support.ea.co...at/chat_landing
I've been trying for 20+ hours before one of the support guys "reported my problem to the seniors". The others just told me to wait 24 hours. Each time. Anyway, I've just received the preload so I assume the "seniors" actually did something. Maybe it'll work for you too.

That's pretty lame. D2D is an EA counterpart though. I would assume they'd be on time with this stuff. I hope your right when you say "generic time". I cant remember when I downloaed Origins. Wether it was midnight or what. Ive already downloaded the game, it's just sitting at the "please enter seriel key for activation" screen.

Other developers and publishers have/are able to set one global release date, so it is doable, EA just have to be willing to fight the "establishment" and send out all copies on Tuesday, rather than Thursday.

I have a question for BioWare.

Is Dragon Age 2 going to be released on Steam at the usual time in the afternoon, or possibly at midnight? The only time Valve has ever activated a game at midnight that I preordered was for the Orange Box back in 2007. I imagine when they release stuff they like to be there at the office in order to deal with any problems, and I'm sure they don't want to stay over night to release a game.

So can I expect a departure from the usual?
