Hmmm ... When I run the Release Check it says this

Your release date will be: 8. marts 2011, 10:02

Now I just hope that's true and I can play tomorrow

So I guess Western Europeans can only wait and see (and frantically check the game's status) all day on the 9th. I wonder why it's so hard for the unlock date information to be communicated consistently? So far, EA support knows nothing of preload dates and BioWare communicates different release dates than EA. May I suggest a weekly conference call? :)

leewells, pre-loading is designed to put less stress on servers giving you your game. So more people can get it. It wouldn't be fair to let someone play before anyone else, but~ they can make sure you can play on Minute one of launch instead of X Download time later. So it's actually something that is a nice thing for you, kinda immature to get pissed over it. the game IS ready, it's just not ment for public yet.

Shhh, don't tell Bioware. Let's hope that it's a mistake on their part and it turns out to be true :P

The stupid ****ing EA dl manager will dl around 64% then just freaking ERASE it all and give me this lame "unreleased" greyed out button instead of the "download now" it's happened three times, last time I'm buying from EA...

Wow, the EA Download Manager is really limping along. I bought DA:O and ME2 from the EA store as well, and they both downloaded at consistent speeds at or very close to 6 MB/s (maxing out my 50 Mbit connection).
The DA2 download is currently crawling at around 10-20 kB/s! It's a good thing the game doesn't unlock here in Europe for another few days - although at its current pace that's not going to be enough, it's going to need 8-10+ days :).

The current version of the EA Download Manager also seems a bit more bloated than the old one I used for DA:O and ME2.

I'm now downloading at a mighty 5 kB/s. Are EA running their servers on dialup these days? :)
Just to be sure my connection isn't having severe hiccups today, I just tried downloading a couple of large files from other sites I know are usually fast - one hit 5+ MB/s, the other 3 MB/s.

It looks like someone kicked the server. My download progress went from 0.60% to 6% while I had my back turned for a few minutes. I can see that the speed is now fluctuating wildly from 10 kB/s to 2+ MB/s.
Well, at least now it looks like I can probably expect the download to be completed in time for the EU unlock :P.

Edit: I'm from Denmark as well. Stofa cable Internet.

I cerntainly would hope so. But according to the Release time check thing, it said the unlock time is tomorrow 17:02. And from Fernando's post here said that the unlock time is based on one of the region's time zone. I don't know what imaginary country is there in Asia/Pacific that is 17 hours ahead of us... But... we can try on 00:00 and see if it will unlock. Fingers crossed.

I pre-ordered the signature edition on
an EA account different from my usual because the card my usual was
attached to had just expired. I figured that since the product code
would be e-mailed, I could just register that code on this account.

Nope.
When EA mailed the code, it had already been used, because the game is
automatically registered to the EA account you purchase it on. So now
I'm stuck with this mess of using a different account for DA2 and
getting none of that information added to this one.

But that's fine. Going to my happy place. I am a leaf on the wind.

Contact EA support and they will be able to transfer it to a different account.

Is there a possibility you could do away with these "unlocking" times for future releases?  It makes no sense that in a digital age, where I pre-order and pre-download the digital version of the game, to still wait till friday before i can play a game that everyone else is already playing on tuesday.

I completely agree - and doesn't mean we won't try - but it is unlikely (anytime soon).  These are still dictated by brick & mortar retail, and we're obligated to follow 'local' release dates as we can't be seen to either give ourselves or any other individual retailer (e.g. a digital retailer) a distinct competitive advantage over another retailer (e.g. a local brick & mortar shop).  It is physical goods rules trying to be applied to a digital age, and that's why it falls apart, but there you go.

See this is why i like Bioware so much :) They take the time to reply to your posts :)

You know, I have been wondering about this for a while now, but physical retailers will soon be obsolete now that more and more people are getting heavier broadband connections, even the previously unreachable area's.

This in time will awaken the Purely digital era that ofcourse has only benefits over the physical one (aka no import or export costs, no store cuts etc. Thus cheaper prices and more profits for the actuall developer) Perhaps Bioware could become one of the first to step into this new modern era! :P

What does 0000 on March 11th mean? :) No, seriously, because we understood it differently when Mass Effect came out and a lot of people were angry over this.

Is this the 00:00 at the start of 11th or the 00:00 at the end of 11th? For Mass Effect this was "at the end" and the first full day of play was actually the 12th.

According to Fernando's post:

Also, when it says 0000h of whatever day, that means the start of that day (think midnight +1second).
