For companies to do a world wide release they have to pay extra to all retailers for put a game on release when it doesn't follow Tuesday/Friday thing thats why companies don't do it because its paying for money that really adds no benefit but adds a lot more expense.
I do think they would benefit, at least to some degree. I have read on a lot of forums about people going berserk, who at first pre ordered the game, (physical disc), but decided to cash it back in, and just d/l from a torrent network, because they have to wait 2 days longer than other countries.
Personally, I think they could decrease number of illegal downloads substantially by release it everywhere at the same time. However, I might be mistaken, by all means..

Why don't you try the EA technical support? We can't post anything in DA2 support page yet so contacting them is your only shot for know if you can't figure it out yourself.

Unlocking is based on the official game release date for the region you live in. The PC versions, both digital and retail, will unlock beginning at the following times:
Canada & United States – 0000h on March 8th
EndQuote
I live in Charlotte, NC.. EST (GMT-5). The game says it will unlock in my region at 0000 (midnight). Well there's 5 major timezones in the Us.. Eastern, Central, Mountain, Pacific, Hawaii (and I forget if even parts of alaska have another).
So does it unlock at 0000 in EACH US timezone, or is there one specific time zone at 0000 that it will unlock at - resulting in later that (or earlier) than midnight unlocking?

No for the states its based off of PST. It unlocks 1 time per region not 1 time per time zone.
They rarely unlock games at midnight its typically between 10am to 1pm.ColdinT wrote...
I wonder if Steam will unlock at Midnight EST. Probably not, right?

Looking at steam forums, some folks that should have had it an hour ago still don't. Steam might be a day late, veering into the north American time zones. I've had that problem with steam before, but then again, Steam has accidentally unlocked games days early for me in the Asia region too. I myself am still not in. It's got ten more minutes because my wife is pissed I'm up on the computer waiting for a game already. It it unlocks, however, then sorry honey.
Not correct. The game is supposed to unlock at 0000 on Monday.. that it TONIGHT.. once the clock ticks 00:01, it's then Tuesday morning.
So when people saw an unlock at Monday at 0000, they probably thought 0000 was LATE sunday night / EARLY monday morning - which is incorrect

The annoying thing is the unequal treatment between the EADM and Steam copies. People with EADM have theirs unlocked while us steam users are left, well feeling steamed...

People keeping thinking 0000 Monday means 0000 late sunday night
when the clock is at 0000 you are still on your "same day". It becomes "the next day" at 00:01
so people on the steam forums thought that "0000 Monday" meant Sunday Night at midnight. They assumed 0000 Monday meant that.. and it doesnt
0000 Monday is LATE monday night, and 00:01 (one minute after the unlock) is Tuesday morning

I can barely understand that there are different dates for preloading the game, but I can’t figure out why people on other continents should wait to unlock their game, if they’ve already downloaded it.
