Uk gets it last lame

I think it's going to release on the 11th in a big part of Western Europe (as normal), but because some areas (Scandinavia) get it on the 10th, they're pulling the lock out a day earlier. I'm assuming that due to different versions (and the size of the UK as an individual market), it makes sense to treat UK +Eire differently.

Woah, serious, it's the 9th now. As long as my preorder doesn't get cancelled, I'm happy~.

...I'm not sure the store I preordered from knows this, I'll have to call them tomorrow and check with them.

Totally off topic, but April Ryan is the best female video game character of all time. When Alyx of Half Life 2 fame consistently gets this nod, a part of me dies inside.

So.... it's 6 pm on the 4th where I live.

And the EA Store has said absolutely nothing about starting downloads <_<

Is it worth arguing with them?

I've spent the last month trying to get an answer out of them without success. Maybe you'll have a different experience. ;p

Someone posted earlier that there's a post in the EA forums that says we should be able to download it tomorrow (today actually).

I shall endeavour to succeed! (no, not really :))

I think I'll just sit tight until people start downloading and going 'SQUEEE!! I'm downloading the game nao! :o'

Unlocking is based on the official game release date for the region you live in. The PC versions, both digital and retail, will unlock beginning at the following times:

  • Asia/Pacific region – 0000h on March 8th
  • Canada & United States – 0000h on March 8th
  • Russian Federation - 0200h on March 8th
  • Western Europe – 0000h on March 10th
  • Australia & New Zealand – 0000h March 9th
  • Central and South America - 1700h March 10th
  • Eastern Europe  – 0000h March 11th
  • Great Britain & Ireland – 0000h March 11th

While you were very clear on the preload being GMT based time, you are not being clear at all on when the game actually unlocks. I mean, what is the "official game release" timezone for Canada & United States? EST? CST? PST?

Just curious, but what is the reason behind the whole unlock scheme? I can understand it for pre-loading before March 8th, but what is Bioware or EA's benefit in putting it also on store-bought retail copies and using different dates worldwide?

From a customer point of view, I'd want it to be playable at the same time worldwide - with the only release time difference being the time zones, meaning in some countries it'll be morning at release and evening in others.

I don't see how it makes commercial sense to have people in europe, who have installed the game, be unable to play while people in america are already able to play.

Can someone explain the reasoning behind it all?

There is. It says "tomorrow around 4:00pm PST."
Tomorrow meaning today (4th).

The EA Store page of DA2 for my country says the release date is March 11. The OP says it's 8th. Hope the OP is correct

What time zones are the unlocking times? I live in Asia so does that mean that I can only unlock the game in the afternoon (in my time zone) of 8th march?

Why is Great Britain and Ireland one day behind Western Europe?? in the realms of the EU we're usually counted as Western Europeans too, we are quite literally last behind everyone else apart from Eastern Europeans; makes me wonder what EA considers Western and Eastern Europe.

Side note: by the time scales I take it means its relative to each retrospective country? we don't have to say wait until its midnight on March 11th in Edmonton or whatever.

Yea, Chris was very clear on the timezone for the Pre-Load, but absolutely unclear on the timezone for game unlocks. I imagine for countries that have only one timezone, it's a non issue.

I want to imagine that the reason he didn't give timezones for the actual unlock is because it's based on your individual timezone within your region. I'm hoping this because, as an American, I can just set my comp to EST and start playing earlier (I'm actually in CST). :P

Doesn't the game require a 'one time' online session to begin play? I imagine we won't get very far changing our computer clocks etc etc if the unlock signal comes from the provider side of things :( Also... I wonder if I can trick steam into thinking I'm in the US ;D

Good point. Which just makes it even more important for Chris to modify his post to put actual timezones in for unlocking times!
