Its encrypted. You have to wait until Steam unlocks it for you to install.

How do you determine when direct 2 drive will let you play?

You can't apply the texture pack until you install the game, and you can't install the game until Steam unlocks it.  Steam encrypts the files until they unlock the game, at which point it'll download a small file to unlock them.  You can't do anything with it right now.

aww... poor you... while here in the UK i have to wait till friday, dry yer eyes, mate (and use a vpn or proxy ;-) )

An update on the Direct2Drive late keys:

Currently the download/key page for DA2 on D2D says

"Return to this keypage on March 8th, 2011 to receive your Activation Key."

Whereas before it stated "10am PST" in the same line.

Something changed - could this mean we'll get the key in time after all?

Let me take a guess, you can't play it because you ordered a retail copy? you don't know what a VPN is or how it works and or ordered through digital retailer that aint fooled by VPN?

D2D users can preload, but we need the activation keys to install.  Maybe the keys will be available 3/8 12am PST.

I sent a question to Steam support asking when DA2 would unlock. Don't know if I'll get anything back, but figured it was worth a shot.

thats funny.. seeing as i used that method to unlock dead rising 2 and several other games on steam earlier than UK release...

sorry... it was a proxy i used.. same idea

http://usaip.eu/en/index.php and choose china.. with steam closed, then open it once you are connected.. but seeing atm its not much use as steam havent appeared to unlocked it in ANY area

GET FLYVPN and use a server in CHINA.. then set your timezone in windows to Bejing in China.. the EADM will then unlock ur game and u can play
