So I got my D2D codes, installed the game (now says unlock at midnight PST), and registered my pre-order code so that the shield and sword show up. However, I have another code that D2D calls a "promo" code and that codes doesn't seem to work.

So is that the code for the shop and do we have to wait until the game unlocks to use that?

I'm still waiting for the download option on the game page to appear(Gamersgate). It's already past 0000 GMT.

I bought my copy from gamersgate, got the pre-load installed. But it got a program called "Online release date check", running it with my real IP(aussie) says unlock is march 9th.

Tried again this time with my VPN:IP(USA) says i have only 8hrs to unlock.

Which would be 0:00PST by my clock.

Pretty annoying, why have different release dates throughout the world when it would be so much easier to just have a worldwide release date.

Completely ridiculous that the US release date is on the 8th whilst EU release date is on the 11th.

Because the unlock time for ALL users from the same region is the same.  For your region it'll unlock at 00:00 PST, which i assume is 03:00 your time.

No matter which version you have, the earliest you can play the PC version in North America is midnight PST/ 3AM EST because that is when the EA servers will start accepting game activations.  Steam hasn't said anything about when they will unlock the game, however.

strange, I'm in Ireland and Dragon Age 2 has been available to download for days. Though when I go to unlock it using the previously mentioned VPN method, I get told my Key isn't valid. I'm assuming my key hasn't been added to the list of approved keys yet for extra region locking.
Nevermind, someone just pointed out I've to wait until the EA servers accept activations.

I'm rather confused about my unlocking time based on my region/location. I'm currently living in Israel, and have ordered the game off the EA store. I recieved my serial/code whatnot and have preloaded.
Now it's to my knowledge (though I maybe mistaken) that Israel is geographically considered a part of Asia, though I'm getting an unlock time of Friday the 11th instead of March 8th. I highly doubt Israel is considered a part of Great Britain, Ireland or Eastern Europe.

I find this whole region unlocking system slightly confusing and very frustrating,

I preordered through EA and got the EA store reciept and license e-mailed to me a few days ago, but "The Irons" is not showing up in my account promotion list. All the books are. Anyone have any idea how this is supposed to work when the clock strikes 12:00?

I contacted EA through Live Chat and the guy said that an email will be dispatched when the game is released. So we have to wait till tonight or tomorrow. Hopefully they don't screw it up. I like it that Bioware does all this DLC/Promotional stuff, but it just seems mind boggling sometimes with all the stuff that gets pushed around.

The fact the steam hasn't unlocked yet for north American players is a great disservice. I specifically canceled my signature edition pre-order because I don't like the EADM because it does the same thing steam does but adds the annoyance of a desperate client, and I can't endorse that. So I stuck with steam as I have for the last few years. This is quite frankly unfair to players like me to go out of our way to endorse steam, I waited many months to buy the sims 3, just to end up with this bull****. I'm done with steam.

you should just go to sleep--steam isn't going to unlock it any sooner because of a few people complaining, and it will be up soon enough

Yeah, there's no point in contacting Steam other then to ask when they are going to unlock. Unlike the other digital providers, Steam has a seperate DRMesque/unlock system in place. What D2D and EADS did was let you download basically the entire game knowing that you can't play until the EA activation servers let you. Steam essentially has their own activation servers so it will be midnight PST or whenever they unlock the game.

Well there 7% left on my pre-load from steam and this is the first time im actually doing this so im not sure what to expect. Am i supposed to get an e-mail or something or will theg ame just magically work?

I sent a support question in a few hours ago asking when the Steam version would unlock for the US. So far I haven't got any response.

It is a little bit annoying. I love Steam, and it's great if you're buying something after release. But I think I've always had to wait for pre-orders to unlock. It would be nice if it was different, or if there was some communication about it.
