Anyone else here ordered the game from Gamersgate and haven't got neither preloading option or cd key?

I thought Steam didn't offfer the original pre-order, the Signature Edition? Or am I missing something?

A normal Preorder with 2 additional items, not the Signature Edition

So what are the chances of this entire march 10 thing being a joke and the game working once the download is done?

And that's exactly what EA want. Make users buy from their own store.

Precisely what I was thinking. Right from the start EA has shown nothing but contempt for Steam with this game.

Not just with this game, especially within recent months.

for USA posters:

so much pathetic overreaction about getting a game 1-3 hours later

For those of you that pre-ordered through EA store, have you received or heard anything about when we get the promotion codes for all the SE items including exiled prince DLC? I'm assuming we won't get it until the day of release which for me is tomorrow, but with so many other retailers giving them out today you would think EA would do the same.

I am an impatient person, but I'm pretty sure making people play a game at 3:00 AM as opposed to midnight is... not especially nefarious, or indicative of much contempt for anyone . Can North American EA customers play at midnight EST legitimately anyway?

It should be based on time of location. Midnight no matter what zone your in. Makes sense. Just like when they have mid night launches at gamestop. You dont have to wait 3am EST because It's Midnight PST. You get the game as soon as your time zone hits midnight.

D2D is being silly with this.

Went through all my EA emails, and no mention of the promo codes. My unlock time is midnight tonight, so I'm hoping they'll shoot it to me in an email at unlock time.

It gave me the black emporium I think.  Check your D2D,  the second promo code is under your "my games" as if its a seperate game, but its just a promo code.

EDIT:  Did you get the 360 and ps3 stuff as well?  Its weird that I did.

They can't global release until stores in Europe (and Asia) agree to put out games on the same days as stores in America do. The reason you get the few days delay are stores (not really store-stores, but rather the companies that own the stores) going "Dude, all our games come in on (Friday, for example). We don't want to change our shipping schedule for DAII, that costs money and we won't sell enough DAII to make up for it. We're going to put the game out on our normal day, darn it."

And because of these stores saying that, the Digital versions cannot be unlocked, either, because of laws and contracts that say all stores have to be on even grounds: aka, they have to have the same release date so that Digital buying doesn't have another advantage over buying a box and stores that sell boxes can stay in business.

To have a world wide release, you either have to have a ton of money and a very popular franchise (EA sort of has the first, but sadly not the second), be only selling from very few places (maybe even only one) so you can keep control of each, or be purely digital.

Or, you can do it like MMO's do, which Dragon Age II almost could have done. For an MMO, you can buy expansion- be it Cataclysm or Velious or whatever the latest expansions for popular MMO's are a few days early. You can even input your code a few days early, often enough. But because the switch is on the MMO's side rather then the game side, someone with the box early can do nothing more then look at the various files and sigh dreamily. There's no 'crack' or 'cheat' that you can use to get around that, like I'm sure there is for DAII- hell, I have no doubt there are people cracking around the time restriction already.

If EA/Bioware included some sort of code thing that you had to download to play the game, then they could worldwide release. However, that would necessitate everyone downloading something at once, which would cheese off the people who don't have internet access on their playing computer and overload their servers.

So there it is. Either accept having to download random stuff on release time, or bug and bug people very high up in the chain of command that Dragon Age is a premiere franchise and should have schedules changed for it.

...none of that explains the Steam situation, though. But Steam is Steam. Very convenient, but in turn, they get to follow their own rules.

I just dont get why they would allow steam to sell that game and why steam would sell that game knowing theyre gonna have to make their users wait which will make them lose cutomers

So I got my D2D codes, installed the game (now says unlock at midnight PST), and registered my pre-order code so that the shield and sword show up. However, I have another code that D2D calls a "promo" code and that codes doesn't seem to work.

So is that the code for the shop and do we have to wait until the game unlocks to use that?

Had same problem i just kept putting in the code and it eventually worked.
