Steam is located in Seattle.... Maybe it's 12am Pacific time?

It's the same as the EA unlock times.  All that has happened is that Steam is now unlocking at the same time.  Nobody (in North America) is getting screwed or getting any special advantage.  We all start at midnight PST/ 3AM Eastern.

Even though it seems it's not, it's based on ALASKA time. unless they changed it earlier today?

Earlier today a lot of people noted that it changed.  Now it points to the regional unlock time, which for North America is midnight PST.

Not in Australia it isn't. It's nearly a day and a half later.

EST is getting screwed.

Which is why I said North America in the part of my post you chose not to quote.  I don't claim to know anything about what is happening elsewhere, I'm just trying to point out to people that in North America Steam and D2D buyers are in the same boat as other PC buyers.

I pre-ordered the signature edition on an EA account different from my usual because the card my usual was attached to had just expired. I figured that since the product code would be e-mailed, I could just register that code on this account.

Nope. When EA mailed the code, it had already been used, because the game is automatically registered to the EA account you purchase it on. So now I'm stuck with this mess of using a different account for DA2 and getting none of that information added to this one.

But that's fine. Going to my happy place. I am a leaf on the wind.

Contact EA support and they will be able to transfer it to a different account.

Unfortunately, as I suspected:

Hello,

Thank you for writing to Electronic Arts customer support.

I sincerely apologize for the inconvenience caused to you

I am sorry to inform you that once the game registered on account, it cannot be transferred to some other account. What i can suggest you is to get full refund for your order no 9410713542 that is under your E-mail id and placed a new order for the game under the person for whom you want to purchase the game

If there is anything else we can help you with please let us know.

Thank you,

Smith
EA Online Support

Of course, this means giving up the Signature Edition. Blah.

Do the people going to the midnight release parties at GameStop have to wait till 12PST?
Because if not I'm angry. Why should I have to wait until you chumps in California have midnight before I play? I won't be able to play at all then!

Why do I on the East coast of the USA have to wait 3 hours for the slow bus people on the left coast to catch up before I can play?!?!

Well I am AST (Atlantic Standard Time) on Canada's east coast. No unlock until 4am for me so I gotta go to bed. Oh well more rest for tomorrow's night's session I suppose.

Agreed. Is there anyway we could have ours unlocked at 12 o clock our time? I paid for this game, I should be able to get it exactly on release date. Is there anything that could change that?

And then you get to go home and wait to get to play until 3am, making midnight release completely pointless unless you live on the West coast

Because retailers aren't allowed to pretend that more westward timezones are literally in the past in order to breach the street date. Everyone would be driving east to pick things up earlier (or lying about their address in the case of a download). That's crazy.

I'm used to this. Almost every game release is 6, 12 or 24 hours after the US get to play the game.  /sigh.

Actually people are, thats why New Year happens at different times, we dont wait for California do we?

I agree by definition it is false advertising, I wish EA and possibly others would get sued. Everything in this world has fine print, and I am surprised they just didn’t put PST to eliminate worlds of hurt for a lot of people.  I preloaded yesterday, but didn’t they have different times based on EST, Central, and PST; or were they all PST? Either way I agree with others on here and on bioware forums that it is immoral and by definition again false advertisement which is illegal. We don’t have to wait for other games for PST, they release EST if in that time zone. I really wish someone would sue over this, it actually has a point to it. If a stupid woman can spill hot coffee (which everyone knows is hot), and win; I don’t see any exception for a legitimate claim like this to win.

Oh well spotted! That must have been part of the tiny update earlier.

Yes, I have my keys as well here in Australia. Steam users, just hit the "CD Key" link on the game's library page :)

Looks like Steam will unlock at 3 a.m. for me too. But at least I have my keys now, game registered, and promo code redeemed. :)

Edit: To find your Steam keys, go to the DA2 page in your library, look at the left hand side, and look for the "CD Key" link.
