You know, I realise the website was just terrible for most of the day, however, I just can't understand that none of the mods or devs have addressed this issue. No acknowledgements, just a whole lot of silence.

I couldn't agree with you more.  Are you in Aus?

Nope, I'm in NZ and pissed as hell. Err, the angry kind, not the happy drunk kind.

Same here - to both points.

You know what the worst thing is?  This kind of nonsense is sadly what legitimate owners/supports of the PC gaming world are subject to.  If these guys are looking to stamp out piracy, then publishing false release dates (while other parts of the world get stuck into their games) is probably the worst thing to do.  Annoys the living crap out of me!

I can't believe Bioware haven't even acknowledged that they f'ed up here. Clearly the Australian and New Zealand Release wasn't at 0000h 9th March, how about they just own up to their mistake and tell us when it is actually going to happen?

Abysmal customer service here.

I honestly can't see how they have any right to complain about piracy in foreign regions when they won't allow people to actually buy and play the game. sure it may technically still be illegal to pirate it, but if Bioware and EA provide no other options then what choice are people left with?

No idea bro.  I'm fairly certain that the region changer would not suffice as an effective solution.  Good thinking though!

Might I recommend utilising your day off to sorting this nonsense out?  ;)

The release date check connects to a server to check whether or not your game should be unlocked, so changing your time, date and/or location will do nothing. The only way I can think of to bypass it would be to import a copy from a territory where the game was released earlier, but that's not exactly convenient now, is it?

Is it retarded/disturbing that at near hourly intervals, I keep attempting to see if the game will suddenly surprise me and run, while not giving me some stupid message about waiting until Friday?

I did that too, at least until release date for me was revealed. Now I have a new habit, counting down how many hours left and experimenting with different time zones in W7 time&date preferences. You should try it too, change is good. Image IPB

I have the same problem, I preordered the Signature Edition through EA Store UK, I did not get a promo code. Am I screwed?

That's midnight in 24-hour time format. Get to playing when the clock strikes twelve.

Well Steam is now saying I have seven or so hours to wait, which means five in the morning, so I can sleep for most of the wait.

I just really hope Steam doesn't do something it has done before, and that's push the game back even further right before it releases.

I got my copy of DA2 in the mail this morning. It was sitting on my desk at work all day, taunting me. I raced home to install and play it, only to find out that I have to wait until 22:00 tonight...

I AM DISAPPOINT.

Hmm funny, now D2D.co.uk lists my signature edition keys. Apparently that "return to this page on march 11th" was wrong again.

Unlocking is based on the official game release date for the region you live in. The PC versions, both digital and retail, will unlock beginning at the following times:

  • Asia/Pacific region – 0000h on March 8th
  • Canada & United States – 0000h on March 8th
  • Russian Federation - 0200h on March 8th
  • Western Europe – 0000h on March 10th
  • Australia & New Zealand – 0000h March 9th
  • Central and South America - 1700h March 10th
  • Eastern Europe  – 0000h March 11th
  • Great Britain & Ireland – 0000h March 11th

Strange that Au+NZ are mis-ordered in that list.  Great typo there.  Not only does it state 0000 (instead of GMT+0 @ 0000), 9th does not come between 10 and 10.

If you didn't lie to us so rigorously and then ignore responsibility for the fallout, we wouldn't be so mad.

Boo Hiss, EA
Boo Hiss, Bioware.

Get ready, Dragon Age 2 is almost here. :)

Well I think what BioWare / EA meant to say was....

Canada & United States - 0000h on March 8th

and the rest of the world can get STUFFED !!!

Well I'm going to see if my little experiment worked when I get home. My home IP Address is Japanese, but my work IP Address is American. I downloaded and activated my game in Steam at work (even though my work PC isn't anywhere near the minimum specs). Hopefully, once activated and registered, the game will play just fine off base too.

If not, back to seething...

I only pre-ordered the game because the website said available the 8th... not the 11th.
guess i will go buy rift instead, least they are honest about their dates.

Getting ready for the slowest "approximately 5 hours" (as displayed on Steam) of my entire life. :D

Pretty strange that only AU/NZ is stated to get it during March 9th, I live in Sweden and it says 9th here too (well, on Steam at least).

I'll be mighty pissed if it unlocks and then proceeds to kick me out when I try to launch it. :(
