I'm pretty sure the answer is no, but what if in my mod, I have dropped the Doomguide class. I also want to differentiate which deity a cleric can choose as opposed to favored soul. If I renamed the Doomguide column in nwn_deities.2da to Favored Soul, that wouldn't do what I intend, correct?
Assuming that the answer is no, is there any way I could do this(cleric could choose only certain deities, favored souls could choose only other deities)
Thanks for any replies.

Another thought I'd like to try. Assuming that the columns in nwn_deities are hard coded and can't be changed...since I'm getting rid of doomguide, rather than just adding **** in doomguide's row in classes 2da, if I edit it and put in the stats from favored soul instead, maybe that'll get it to do what I want.

it would not do anything except confuse the engine, the engine is hard coded to certain column names.
You would have to redo the user interface to control that, there are projects to get this handled but they can't do it at first level.
A real long shot is just rename the doomguide, and give it features like a favored soul and make it a base class, but not sure if you have a shot, and you'd prolly need some engine and class building know how to pull it off. I can guarantee it would run into issues since some things are hard coded to a given row.

I've gone and edited the doomguide row, naming it favored soul, and basically just copying the original favored soul row to the doomguide row.
In character generation, the choice of deities IS different now for cleric and favored soul, so that part is working as intended. Further testing will be required to see if there is future problems like you pointed out, pain.

Isn't there a colum in the 2da that basically turns the class on or off for PC use?

dno,
I think you're asking if I could use the Player class column in classes.2da to turn off Doomguide?
If that is what you're asking, then yes that would work to get rid of the doomguide class.
The problem I'm posing here was how best to have the ability to close off a deity choice for a cleric, but still keep it a choice for favored soul, and vice versa.
Keeping the doom guide row viable but just editing it with favored soul info seems to allow me to do what I need by also editing the deities.2da with the cleric and doomguide columns.

Ahh, for some bizarre reason I thought you also wanted no Doom Guides in your module.

Well, I do in fact don't want Doomguides in my mod, so in that respect you are correct. I was posting that since I had already removed doomguides, how best to use the doomguide column in deities.2da to differentiate cleric and favored soul. As I was writing it, I had a feeling I wasn't putting my thoughts into words as coherently as I wanted. Sorry for the mix up.
