Just got the dreaded email from Play-asia (hong kong mail order  company0

Regarding to your order 20855145 at Play-Asia.com for Dragon Age II
(DVD-ROM) (Bioware Signature Edition) (PC, US), we are sorry to inform you
that our supplier cannot provide this Bioware Signature Edition to us.

So now Asian  retailers are following Europena retailers in cancelling our signiture editions.
It all seems to point to EA not expecting so many pre orders and now worried that the exiled prince dlc wont sell well as we  nealry all have pre odered the sign edition.
We should demand that Bioware and EA live up to its  promise, we ordered before Jan we we should get the Signiture edition.
Oh and if this fiasco hits US retaiekrs   I expect this forum will maily consist of   complaints.

Ouch, is the US the only area that still has it?

What crap..

It will surely happen here in the USA too..

I wonder how hey will fix this, or if they even will. It might just get swept under the rug with something that goes like "we are sorry, but we did not expect to sell as many copies as we did, and we cannot provide anymore because they were limited in quantity." and then it will go like this "we reserve the right to not make any more signature editions because we had a set number and it was reached."

That can't possibly be the reason. What video game company could possibly complain about selling TOO MANY copies of their games?

EA would rather have you pay for the DLC included for free in the sig edition.

They cancel UK pre order and now Asia too?
Is this healthy for business? I'm so confused with this EA.

There must be a reason behind that, they wouldn't simply... cancel like that ...

Would they? >.>

Nothing at all so far.

I wonder how EA expects people to pre-order like this again with how big of a screw-up the SE has been?

Dev's have confirmed it ISNT EA, its the retailers. Devs say that they have more than enough Sig Ed's to cover ALL preorders, so it isnt bioware/ea with the problem.

Weren't there a few people last month whose orders were canceled from Play Asia? I don't think this is a new occurrence for them. Still very unfortunate, though.

That makes no sense whatsoever, how does it work? If EA says all preorders are covered, does it mean retailers are purposely holding back copies of sig eds that have been ordered and are in stock? If so what nefarious purposes would those retailers do this for?

Blame the stores.

I bet what has happened is that none of them, at their corporate level, forgot to order their stock on time which means they cant get in everything on time.

I've felt that the signature edition was a bad move from the start. They should have just done a Collector's edition instead.

Yes it's been confirmed by devs on the board that EA have the stock and it's down to retailers.

NZ stores seem fine. Talked to the local folks today and my SEs are all good to go. If you're one of the unfortunate who does get an email in NZ though (from EB games/Gamestop), you at least get a free mouse mat Woo.

I think that this whole pre-order before a certain date business for the signature edition is too novel for most retailers. Things just need to be better communicated when running a new marketing stunt like this.

Im not sure about this. I mean all the retailers in Europe and now in Asia are blaming EA(the supplier) So   we have a "she said  /   he said" kinda situation. Logically EA  have a good reason to not sell too many Signiture Editions,   Exiled prince dlc profit, but  I cant see why  the retailers  have a good reason to ****** off their customers,  and ask them to buy the regular editions for the same(or less? play asia is the same) price.
 So I suspect Ea.

Only a couple of days ago I said this was going to happen, though I thought it was going to happen to me. I hope EB Games in Aus doesn't join in this cancelling business.

And according to Muammar Gaddafi, we are foreign invaders under the influence of the Israeli out to destabilize their country. I doubt EA would admit it were a mistake on their part even if it were true.

If its the people working in the store's, its more than likely just complaining because they also had them on order and cant blame the company for ****ing up what since they work for that company and they are willing to fire you for agreeing with a customer's complaints.

If the retailer didnt order in time to make sure their stocks will be in store, its obviously their fault. There may be that very slim and unrealistic chance that the retailers are cancelling SEs because they want to sell them marked up because of the fact they cant make any extra money of their own to pass on to the devs/pubs.

I'm quite afraid this might happen to me too. To make things worse, I pre-ordered on behalf of a couple of my friends too. Sigh......I miss the days when buying games was supposed to help me relief stress and not add to them........

EA would never admit their faults, so a dev confirmation means nothing to me.

It is possible these companies put in orders a set amount of time before release, and that date happened to be after the deadline.

No matter what happened though, it's still crappy. And worse than what happened with Marvel vs Capcom 3 this past month, I believe in the end everyone that was supposed to get a collector's edition got one. Including me, though it may have took a lot longer for some people getting the free shipping.

I'd rather get something late than not at all. I feel for those whose orders were cancelled because I think I may have been screwed out a sig edition myself and I ordered from the EA Store.
