Retailers in Asia now cancelling Signature Edition- blaming EA as well

If I had to wager a guess at what happened, is that the suppliers(which in every topic seems to be play something or other) didn't send in their orders by January 11th which was the deadline. That seems for more logical than EA going lolletsnotgivethemtheirgamesbecausewereeaandeveiletcetc.
The EA hatred on this message board is worse than the Bisping hatred on MMA message boards.

Most likely, these relaters were never REALLY offering the SE. And just saying they were to get the preorders.johannes1212 wrote...

Dev's have confirmed it ISNT EA, its the retailers. Devs say that they have more than enough Sig Ed's to cover ALL preorders, so it isnt bioware/ea with the problem.
That makes no sense whatsoever, how does it work? If EA says all preorders are covered, does it mean retailers are purposely holding back copies of sig eds that have been ordered and are in stock? If so what nefarious purposes would those retailers do this for?

How would have SEVERAL retailers forgotten to ALL send their shipping needs?
One or two isolated cases maybe, but with the amount of cancellation, something bigger might be going on.
Or maybe nothing at all.

I think this is the most likely case. These retailers should offer people DA2 at $20 off, considering that's how much they're costing their customers with this fiasco.

Several retailers including Play have admitted it's their fault. Now the unique nature of the Sig Edition may have led to misunderstandings between EA and retailers and they're just trying to blame each other. Until the situation is clarified, if it ever is, no one really knows who is to blame.

EA should do something however, after all they
didn't keep the relaters inline or make an announcement of retailers
that were offering it, but not really getting it. They should have had a comprehensive list of places that you could have bought it all over the world and published that to avoid scams.

A quick look at the dragon age wiki shows . The Dragon Age II BioWare Signature was available at Gamestop,
Amazon, Electronics Boutique, and the EA store on October 14th, 2010.
This premium edition was a limited release and was available until
January 11th, 2011. It's no longer available after that date. I don't know if other places got offered it later but I took no chances and got mine from EB around January 7th.

I preordered from EB Games (Australia) and haven't heard anything, apart from an email reminding me that I'll be charged soon, and the invoice still showed the Signature Edition.johannes1212 wrote...
Has anyone heard news of any retailers canceling sig eds in Oceania (Aus, NZ)?
I preordered pretty close to the end of the Signature Edition promotion as well (I forgot until the last minute).

I think EB should be alright, what I'm more worried about is Mighty Ape since I got it off them.

Because the ordering of game itself would be taken care at the corporate level of the business and not at the individual store level. If the business did not order their copies on time, or at all for that matter, then they wont have the stock to distribute out to their invividual stores, which means the stores cant sell you the game that you ordered.

As an apology, they should have the DLC that the signature edition provides, free for those countries...at least for a week or two after release.
I think apologizing to customers means signing a death warrant as a business, well from what I've seen and heard over years thats what happens to businesses who bow to their customers at least

EA would have made their stock allocation perfectly clear. The store screwed it up by not keeping tabs on what orders had been placed. Unless of course EA promised them more copies, but that is unlikley when it was a limited time purchase anyway.

Crap. My order confirmation from 19/10/2010 doesn't say signature edition, and they wouldn't confirm it in email. Said I had to call the store (who confirmed it over the phone). Still, I do have a screen shot of their web site saying it would be automatically upgraded. *crosses fingers that's enough if they try and pull something*

Who knows why they do it.
I went to (awhile ago) pre-order a SE edition of a game from a store here and was told there was none left, game came out and I went into the store and on the shelf there was like 10 of them.. asked what the go was and they were like 'oh yeah we had a lot of canclations' apparently EVERY one who had pre-ordered that SE game had decided they no longer wanted the SE version.. and the SE versino was being sold for more then the ammount it should have been (given I didnt get it)
never went back to that store again.. but yeah.. was quite annoying..

EDIT: Hmm, well now that I look at it more closely, it only says Dragon Age 2 - PC. However, the price is the same as when I preorderd the SE ($49.99 I believe), so I assume that it's still the SE. The current price is $59.99. *shrug*
