Retailers in Asia now cancelling Signature Edition- blaming EA as well

Sorry to hear that to the people who got screwed. That's bad business.
The world is slowly being pushed towards hating the customer...seeing them as a necessary evil and generally not giving too much of a crap about them.
I blame video games, rap music and cola....

Dont know about the rest of you, but as for me, Ive actually come away from this experience with a valuable lesson; If I ever had a mind to order a special edition of a game etc. online or from a back water retailer, I wont now. To which means that Gamestop, more than ever, will be the only place I ever buy video games from.

*puts on tin foil hat with pink ribbons*
I've come to the conclusion this is a conspiracy from the big game companies to finally wipe out physical copies of games and push everything into digital distribution where they don't have to pay a cent in manufacturing game discs, boxes, manuals etc etc.

Shush you! I haven't taken off my hat yet!
But yeah..I'm still getting mine for PC...so while hat is still in play..it's gradual stages...until people come to expect it...*taps nose* you watch...
In a few short years when DA5 comes out...you won't even be able to pre-order from a physical store...

Im telling ya, it's the Free Masons man. They're finally making their move to install their new world order and the first stage of that is to control the gaming companies to make them cancel people's SE of Dragon Age 2. Not any other game atm mind you, just Dragon Age 2. Because they have to be subtle at first. lol

I've written an email to Play-Asia, basically stating what Priestly said (paraphrasing), that they had enough SE editions and there shouldn't be any problem with the supply. Haven't heard from them yet. Can someone in EA call up the retailers and ask them what exactly is going on?? I know that it is the fault of the retailers (allegedly) but its bringing a bad name to EA by association. It can't be good business to have thousands of angry gamers right before the big launch. Gamers who were willing to preorder, even before the launch of the demo no less. (i.e. super loyal fans).

DAMMIT! I knew they were involved I just didn't have the evidence.
With your testimony we can spread the good word and awaken the sleeping giant of society to the walls of stone that are slowly being built around them - *takes off hat*

thats why you dont buy stuff on the internet folks
i'd say whats happened is quite simple
1 the retailer did no give EA the pre-order numbers on time
2 EA lost the information somewhere
you would be amazed how often stuff like this happens poor form they should have been able to fix it
as for the DLC excuse.......................... i dont know about asia or europe but in aus thats is a massive breach according to the ACCC and fair trading act
unless of course the retailer didnt have a binding agreement with EA to supply the product in the first place................... in which case you could sue the store for false advertising (they sold something they couldnt supply)
of course if you only left the deposit amount its hard to claim under the act but whoever is at fault would likely get a fine anyway
Urm, I'm in Malaysia. We do not have a Gamestop. My only choice to get the SE Edition is on the internet.

Dear ******
Thank you for contacting Play-Asia.com.
We are sorry that the US version of Signature Edition is only available for
some major sellers in US. We cannot get any copy of the US version of
Signature Edition available for sale.
For the Asian version Signature Edition, we are expecting to receive a
small number of copy. We haven't accept pre-order now. We are sorry that
you have to keep checking from our website for the availability of the
Asian version Signature Edition. There is no priority given to any customer
to order the Asian version Signature Edition.
For your current order, would you like to cancel the order or change to the
normal version of the game?
If you have any further questions, please do not hesitate to ask.
Best regards,
Kasel
Play-Asia.com

Wait, what? Theres a US version and an Asian version? And the US version is only available in US?
Play-Asia has always been reliable, so I don't see them as two-bit scammers. This explanation is really weird though.

This is a major bummer. Surprised about the Asia / US region comment. I'm in Australia so I imagine we would have been hit by that too...but also considering how early the cut off was for Signature Editions, I can't imagine why they wouldn't have run enough off globally.
Something is very fishy here.

That's because there sooooooooooooooooooooo many game editions.
There should be just two: Collector's and normal
There are only two: Signature and just-plain DA2. Then there is a separate set of pre-order DLC that both editions get.

Each region has a code. PS3 games play region free for the most part. Not sure about the others. I've only ever imported PS3 stuff from Japan and US.

I know. I might be wrong, but if I remember it correctly the Dragon Age 2 page had a recommendation link for Asian retailers, and now its gone.
@BobSmith I play on the PS3 and the PC and lived in the UK for a couple of years (and bought games, obviously) and all the games I've bought in the UK play fine on my computer (bought in Malaysia). PC and PS3 games are not region specific.

They should just hand out codes for those DLC.
Its not like the DLC would have been on the disc.
Maybe a lot of people stole them and are selling it on EBAY right now.

I ordered SigEd from Play Asia too. There was no "official" retailer of SigEd in Asia (on DAII site).
So I've asked them about it and they said they are getting stocks from Play USA. We were supposed to get SigEd US.
But seeing that they kept offering it after the promo period made me think that they were not really aware of the promo details at all. I reckon they didn't even submit the order to EA on time.
What's worse is I even sent them a mail with a SigEd promo detail link last January. Asking them if everything is settled before the promo expired. The assurance I got was a lie.
Just got the dreaded mail a few hours ago. And I'm still very upset about it.
