**** the prince, I never did like royalty anyway

They allowed you to do that? They told me that I would have to pay the same price for the normal edition! What gives? D:

Cancel your preorder? Then get the normal edition?
Is that right Browny?

Yes, I will probably do that. Though what would make them think that I would be stupid enough to pay the SE price for the normal edition...

I got a similar e-mail as well (well, actually, my sister who helped me with the pre-order got it). I'm just so livid that they could not tell us about this cancelation earlier, then I could have searched for other options. Also, in my e-mail, they had the nerve to say "we can't send you the signature edition, but we can sell you the NORMAL edition, for the SAME PRICE! Mwahahahah!" Okay, some embelishment there, but the essential message is still intact.

SAME PRICE? <_<
Don't they check their own site?
They sell their normal edition $15 less than the Sig Ed.

*sigh* ...

If this doesn't get sorted out, I'll probably do as Browny did. Downgrade to Regular Ed.
But I won't be buying from Play Asia. <_<

"Regarding to your order XXXXXXX at Play-Asia.com for Dragon Age II

(DVD-ROM) (Bioware Signature Edition) (PC, US), we are sorry to inform you

that our supplier cannot provide this Bioware Signature Edition to us.

Instead, we would get the normal version.  We regret the price would still

be the same.
Could you please kindly reply and confirm if you would still

want to go ahead with your order for the normal edition or you would prefer

to cancel the order?  Please kindly accept our apology for this situation."

Seriously, I was inclined to possibly blame EA, but this is what Play-Asia's customer service has given me... I really wonder if someone is trying to troll me specifically, or maybe this is some sort of miscommunication. I drafted out an angry e-mail putting them down and calling out their incompetanceS, one that my sister has to send for me (unfortunately for her :)).

Allow me to end my tirade by saying "I WANT MY SEBASTIAN!!!!" (and all the other crap which may be exclusive to the Signature Edition).

They need to give out free codes.
If they register the game.
And pre ordered.

The E.A hatred on the BioBoards is worse than the hatred from those vile internet gangsters on RPG codex that spend hours of their sad, sad day making hateful Bioware threads.

Huh?

I don't see much hatred for EA here. More like "wth is going on???".

It doesn't really matter who is to blame. Obviously only EA has the power to manufacture more Signature Editions if there is a shortage. Despite what Chris Priestly and others have said about who is at fault and who you should take it up with, you almost have to take it up with EA if your goal is to obtain a Signature Edition copy. It's unfortunate, but hopefully EA will step up to the plate and develop a solution instead of playing the blame game and leaving customers in the mud.

I can't imagine it was EA's fault. They are not that new in the business. Maybe there was a misunderstanding in how some retailers order the signature edition at EA/Bioware. I mean maybe they just thought it was just a normal preorder or didn't know they have to specifically order a signature edition and not just a preorder.

Question would be how many people this happens to. Tbh even if it sucks but if it is anywhere near 1% of the total orders then I guess it is just what can be called 'bad luck' for you guys. Mistakes can happen and I think it's rather the retailers who screwed up at some point.

EA is bigger and thus take the blame with less impact.Than smaller businesses.

Thats quite amusing. Especially since his comment was so self-righteous. Giggle.

I got my e-mail from Play-Asia today. My order was placed in December, well before the deadline. Heavily disappointed, I cancelled my order with them and salvaged what I could by getting a pre-order from Gamersgate, digital download. At least I'll get the Black Emporium and a few other items. I have no desire to receive a physical copy of the game any more, and I am grinding my teeth realizing that I'll have to pay $7 to receive a character and a DLC I should have received for free.

As a loyal Bioware gamer who dutifully ordered well before the deadline, I'm upset. At this point, I don't care if it is the retailers or EA/Bioware at fault--I feel betrayed by all parties equally. Instead of pointing fingers and passing the buck, I would have been more impressed if EA/Bioware at least tried to reconcile the issue.

I would have been happy with even a simple apology or basic sympathy. Oh well. Enjoy my $7 for Exiled Prince, EA.

The Blame Game- it may be that there is a fair bit of blame one can spread around. EA limiting access to the (US) SE and not informing the retailers until a week ago? The EA international sales rep making promises he couldnt keep? retailers getting a bit quick of the mark and offering something they were told would be in limited supply ?
whatever way this whole SE thing has been a fiasco.

I ordered the SE on 7th Jan from game.co.uk. Haven't heard anything yet but with it now going on around most of the countries (except US and Germany) it's getting me worried :-(

Yeah, I won't be preordering anything from EA in the future. I still love Bioware and what they produce, but preordering is totally out of the question. I don't trust EA anymore. It may be the retailers fault (but if it IS the retailers fault alone, why are several retailers making the same mistake??) but EA has to do SOMETHING about a problem that is affecting the launch of one of its biggest games.

I called to inquire about my order this week and the finnish online store Verkkokauppa. They told me they had set an initial quota of around 150 Signature editions (if I recall correctly) and once that was met they placed it to "sold out" and if they receive more they will open it back up for purchase. So far no news of them sending out information about cancellations

I posted a thread earlier about how EA can make itself look good. Offer the DLC free for 1 week after release. That will put to rest all those nasty rumours about doing this to capitalise on day 1 DLC.

Who's at fault here is irrelevant. Hopefully Bioware/EA takes a long look at this fiasco when they release ME3 later this year.

Yes, an apology or basic sympathy would have been nice. At least a "Sorry about that dude," instead of "Not our problem."

I'd really rather they look at this situation (wouldn't call it a fiasco at the moment, even if I was one of the ones affected), and do something to remedy it.

Was the Signature Edition supposed to cost the same as regular edition, while being available for order only for a limited time? Just wondering cause where I'm from SE cost 30$ more than regular.

Dev's have confirmed it ISNT EA, its the retailers. Devs say that they have more than enough Sig Ed's to cover ALL preorders, so it isnt bioware/ea with the problem.

Im not sure about this. I mean all the retailers in Europe and now in Asia are blaming EA(the supplier) So   we have a "she said  /   he said" kinda situation. Logically EA  have a good reason to not sell too many Signiture Editions,   Exiled prince dlc profit, but  I cant see why  the retailers  have a good reason to ****** off their customers,  and ask them to buy the regular editions for the same(or less? play asia is the same) price.
 So I suspect Ea.

Not all the retailers in europe have had a problem. That is a very broad generalisation. Play.com was the main offender for many and that was due to some misscommunication between staff who dealt with the emails and the rest of the company.

sassperella wrote...

Yes it's been confirmed by devs on the board that EA have the stock and it's down to retailers.

Only if they ordered enough stock. If they asked for 100 copies they got 100 copies. So yeh it will be down to the retailers
