I have no idea if what you say is fact or not, but why not keep the spoilers in that big spoiler thread.

It would be a huge cliche but I wish they just did away with their take on short and wierd looking elves and just make them more Tolkien-esk. Normal height, normal size, and normal pointed ears (if there is such a thing).

@Gaider: While I agree that these forums can sometimes be a festering cesspool of ignorance, I also agree that for a representative of Bioware, you are sometimes quite condescending and derogatory. Of course, a lot of the people deserve it, but I'm not sure that they should get it from a BW rep; it may not always make you look bad, but it certainly doesn't make you look good. If you look at the site rules, you'll realize you're breaking them. I don't want to get nipped in the ass for posting this, but...

Ok, I wasn't freaking out about the other shot like a lot of people, but now I'm just confused.  He looks exactly the same to me here as in the other shot, but suddenly people are saying "it's the old Zevran".  Wha??

He still looks funny, but it's just the new style- the big chins, small mouths, and the godawful elf ears.

Zevran is pretty much the poster child for polyamory. 

Not if he's in love.  Then he's all Mr Commitment.  I'm just hoping his romance flag gets imported properly, even for Queen Couslands.

Anyway, while the second screenshot does look better, I guess it's jarring because elves are SO different.  I hope he's at least wearing shoes.  He has two conversations where he talks about wearing footware -- it would be weird if he's also barefoot now.

Yeah, my opinion exactly. I didn't like the first pic, and the second ain't much different. Bit of sad, I suppose. I really liked his look in Origins.

*shrugs* Personal preference thing; I don't like the redesign at all. The look like they're not only another race, but another species. They also, for me, dip into the uncanny valley. I don't fiind them attractive. I find them creepy as hell, especially Merrill, who looks like she's about 12. If I romanced her with Hawke, I'd feel like a dirty old woman, and not in the fun way.

Agreed on all counts. Merrill looks disturbingly young to me, like a child model. Creepy.

On the up side, for me, I'm no longer disappointed that I can't play an elf.

Step away from the computer. Or at least, close the forums tab in your browser.

It sucks to have people ripping about your baby, the project you've spent months working on. But from here, it seems like it's getting to you on a personal level. Speaking from experience, that's the point at which disengaging from online discussions becomes a very, very good idea.

If they're another species, then they shouldn't be able to interbreed with humans and produce fertile offspring. 

I loved the elves in Origins because it was taking a standard fantasy trope--the tall, graceful elves that are perceived as being superior to humans--and turned it on its head, making them an oppressed minority. To me, at least, it weakens the impact of that. My Tabris ripped Leliana a new one during one conversation, telling her that she clearly doesn't see elves as people. If elves are so distinct as to be a completely different species, then...well, they're not people, are they?

*shrugs* Again, all I'm saying is that it doesn't work for me. YMMV, and clearly does.

Zev looks like he'd been partying hard with Charlie Sheen. Though he admittedly looks better in shot #2.

I think he looks really creepy. I mean elves are supposed to be just another race, right ? But this incarnation of Zevran doesn't even look human, he looks like some sort of alien lizard mutant. His womanizer character really does not go with this look, IMO.

Agreed, for some reason the current take on elves reminds me of Santa elves, I hope this impression doesn't follow with all the elves in DA2 or it's really gonna be hard to take that part of the game seriously (or Merrill for that matter)

Mid-conversation with Hawke, his forked green alien-tongue slithers out from between his teeth and licks Hawke daintily on the cheek. Then a long, thick silence ensues, and Zevran scurries away into the bushes on all fours with a screech.
