I agree, and to be honest you can tell that Zevran in DAII is an improvement from Origins. Yes he's in mid sentence, but his facial structure is much better then in Origins were he had like an underbite....Thank god for mods that fixed that.

Hmm...I browse these forums regularly because i love DA. And i've seen a lot of silly discussion. I was thinking this topic was one of those and took it in with a smirk. But that's what fantasy fans do they get overly wrapped up in these worlds and discuss silly things, so what. I've never liked how Gaider handles these forums. What a child. Its rare that i've come across a post where he's not being extremely condescending and very often during discussions that aren't even mean spirited. And its starting to seep into my experience of the game. Because whenever someone is a smarmy a-hole in Origins all i can see is David's stupid face. I get it that your the lead writer and your protecting your fragile ego but come on dude, YOUR THE LEAD WRITER. Be professional. Even though Gaider is obviously talented i would love for the Dragon age team to get a new lead writer cuz let's face it its not like he's Tolkien or something.

And since he's started the name calling precedent and shown us that you can gather large generalizations from a very small sample size of someone's existence on the internet let's all say what we've learned from David's forum posts about the rest of humanity, here it goes: People are bald, People are hideous, People are condescending pricks, people are jerks, people are childish, people are bitter, people are petty, people are pompous, and most importantly people SUCK!(and no i see no more value in insulting someone's intelligence over their physical appearance, there both equally despicable in my book. So here's to being despicable)

Oh, I agree that neither of our individual aesthetic opinions is more correct than is the other's.  However, they could have done better by creating a look that would have appealed to a larger portion of their user base - since the lore has elves looking beautiful by human standards.  I would have been perfectly fine with their being very slender, if it were graceful.  But the way their heads relate to their bodies, and the way they carry their limbs, all looks very awkward (again, to my eye). 

And who is your M!Surana?  We can only play human Hawkes in this game...

In DAO art team were given a direction to create a generic fantasy. So all races looked like humans with strange qualities. In DA2 they decided to separate Thedas world of generic lotr world as the tired of comparisons.

This is not lotr, this is not D&D, this is DA - BioWare own franchise. With horned giants, elegant and thin fay people, stone born dwarfs and...humans.

They don't look unique though!  They just look like grey Na'vi.  If uniqueness were important, the new elves wouldn't be so derivative. 

I think, for me, getting into DA2 would require not thinking of them as elves at all, and instead just think "navi" whenever someone says "elf."

Woahh, I never noticed how similar the new elves looked like to Navi until you pointed that out. O__o

Also, I loved the concept art for elves, but I agree I'm iffy on the in-game look...I don't think it'll be a huge problem, though. I'm pretty sure that within a few weeks there will be mods to fix all the NPC and companion looks.

Zevran's face got it's serious share of mutilation.
I guess it's just my opinion but going from this to that is a serious downgrade.

Oh David... I have a lot of respect for you as a writer but that was just a mean thing to say about the fanbase. Some people were really attached to its older appearances. At least, his voice and manners are the same so he's not impossible to recognize. I agree with some fans when I say that I prefered the older elves appearances, they felt more realistic and less cartoonish. Zevran, on the other hand had an appearance, like Alistair, that many fans adored, to the point of making fan arts and dreaming about them. The changes were good for some NPCs, but the new design kinda changed the way they look and it's only natural that some people are unhappy about it.
