I kinda miss having to raise dead/resurrect my fallen buddies in BG2 (yes yes, I know it isn't viable within the lore of Thedas). Was never badass enough not to reload after one of them got splattered though :?

Perma-death for companions in BG2 was absolutley brutal on max difficulty. BG2 days are great ones gone by [smilie]../../../images/forum/emoticons/crying.png[/smilie]...though I still have it and Throne of Bhaal installed on this windows 7 desktop [smilie]../../../images/forum/emoticons/cool.png[/smilie].

back on topic...

I just hope nightmare is really a nightmare this go around. 3 mages and 1 aggro tank should not be able to roflstomp everything; though that was in large part due to the DA:O mage being able to stun-lock entire groups of enemies indefinately. Also, I for one am glad Arcane Warrior is gone for the sake of decent balance.

I plan on playing nightmare mode as well, but I'm not that good, so I'll just do so in private and be more comfortable in the knowledge that no one else will know when I'm huddled in a corner weeping after getting waxed for the 1000th time. :P

I would be willing to try this. I normally play on easier difficulties but I'll try Nightmare this time. Time to be frustrated lol

Soft. I joined the group but the nightmare without pausing challenge seems much more intense to me :)

Originally I was going to just try it on hard, but now that its being offered as a challenge...well, how can I say no? Bring it!

Nightmare from the get go from me as well, don't care if healing or anything else is nerfed. I do that on basically every game with optional difficulties (unless they're locked at first).

Just can't wait for a hardcore mod. When the whole party dies, all game saves associated with that character are deleted :homer simpson drool:.

Kevin Sorbo only plays games with a hardcore mode. (and that bs Bethesda gave us in New Vegas doesn't count)

Mount&Blade warband has an option to only allow you to save&exit. Though you can't die there, but lose a battle and you lose all troops you had under your command, gold and some of your items.

Yea, i hate automatic ressurections for party members.   I reloaded every time someone went down in DAO.

What about everyones health refilling after every damn battle ??        These modern day rpgs are getting soooo soft it's laughable.  They don't want you to have to think any more for some reason.   Just BUTTON MASH your way through now !!   Ughhhhh.

I'm definitely up for the challenge. It's a pitty that there isn't an acheivement in-game.

All I care about is the FF so count me in!

- I had to keep a constant eye on Carver's distance from the other party members or he'll melt them
- No more surrounded by enemies/enemies clustered OMG AOE tactics
- No more cheese pausing and trying to line up of the edge of the AOE target circle so that it will hit 3 enemies and barely miss the tank. I can't do it reliably with the new camera limitation and 1 mistake = dead tank.

I'm also going to try having Fenris as the MT and have Anders heal him but that may be too stressful.

I'll do this. I always play Nightmare on Origins, so I was considering doing it anyway.

I am not a glutton for punishment at all, but I'm unfortunately stuck with nightmare since I want friendly fire.

So, signed, I guess.

Eh, I thought about it--I didn't have troubles with Hard in Origins, I was just kind of bored by the time I thought about trying a Nightmare playthrough. I may give it a shot, but I may wind up playing on normal or casual by the end.

At the beginning, I find harder difficulties fun. Later on, when I want to FIND OUT WHAT HAPPENS, I start to get really, really annoyed that this is TAKING SO FREAKING LONG OMG.

Yeah I'm liking the changes to NM compared to other games. ME2, DAO, was all just boost in HP and dmg on there end. Simple trade off thing. Well was some AI boost in ME2 as far as how aggressive they where.

DA2 though looks like A LOT of little things on top of that to really push things. Like bleeding out at 10% hp and enemy abilities gaining new effects only in nightmare, on top of them being more aggressive and all that.

I'll join up, personally planned to start on NM anyways. Not sure I'll make that 'year 1 no knock outs' though heh.

I'm going rogue archer all the way and after that mage. The cd on heal is verrrrry long (40s). you've got to mass cc. Some encounter are insane, when you've got a rage demon and 5 shade (2 equally to the yellow one), if you kill all the shade, the rage demon (who vanish when he take too much damage in a row) summon another vague and another. We reload like 15 times before succefully clean this room. Never did something like this in dao, never.

I'm 99% positive this is going to be impossible without someone finding a game breaking exploit of a game mechanic someone at Bioware overlooked. :P

I'll eat my own words if someone manages it, but I'm not going to hold my breath.

Totally in for doing normal Nightmare though!

And, I think it's incredibly sad there isn't an achievment for completing the game on that setting. :(

I'll be doing this with the added self-imposed restriction that no party member is allowed to fall in battle ever.

Well I will be playing Nightmare + I have rule of "No Injury" just to spice it little up ... and for the pausing thing I will pass, since the NPC are generaly retarded and I like to have absolute control =)

I'll definitely be playing on Nightmare. Everything else just isn't worth the time invested.

If I just wanted a good story, I'd watch a movie\\read a book. I want both, a Bioware-level story, and half-decent challenge (DAO\\A was filthy easy on Nightmare, aside, perhaps, from the Harvester - but I played GOA with an Origins-only Warden), and I really hope that DA2 gives me the thrill of challenge.

Wow. You made a good case for a nightmare 1st run through. I'll have to think about it... Is there a deadline to sign up?

Yeah, the 11th of March.

Then you will achieve the "Unstoppable Knightmare" rank mentioned on our group page.  (if you join our group)

Need 1 HP boss screenshots with the entire party standing or something? :D

(That's unless we get a resurrection skill - I haven't noticed one anywhere)

I'll give it a shot and document my game progress on youtube ( http://www.youtube.com/tgndragonage2 ). Bring on the pain!

Group setup will depend on what'll work. I'll be a 2handed Warrior as always, so that means I'll probably try my favorite Dragon Age setup which is Tank, 2h, ranged Rogue and Mage for Healing and CC. Hope that'll work out, if not, I'll probably have to scrap the rogue and pull one more mage (meh).
