Indeed. Something fairly complex and multi-phase with a healthy stat\\gear\\build\\group balance threshold, and a major "physical" danger ("get out of the fire\\cleave\\stomp") factor.Dynamomark wrote...
I hope we get some fights of Harverster quality on nightmare in DA2.

Nightmare Challenge, eh? Accepted.
Unfortunately my XBox keeps me from achieving Real Hero status, though.

Don't worry goat boy - if you strive your hardest, I believe one day you too could achieve REAL HERO status, mouse in hand, and keyboard soaked in blood.
Welcome to the Challenge.

Now, I wonder how many here are going to try an unconventional build in the first run nightmare challenge? Pumping magic/str/con to try and create an 'arcane warrior', as an example.
Doubt it'll work. First, from what I've seen, Mages don't gain attack\\damage from Str - they do from Magic. Also, I'd swap Con with Cun (lulz, almost a pun) - avoidance+mage defenses>"dumb" HP pool.

>_> Okay >_> I officially think I'm crazy because I'm mainly in the game for the story, but my current run of Awakening on Normal shows me that getting bored with battles is a really bad thing... No idea how I'll manage nightmare on DA2 since it's going to be my first nightmare run ever, but I'm going to try. Any tips though?
Pause a lot, place your aoes carefully, spec your characters to use the cross class combos.

Maybe I'll try it this time.
Maybe this'll force me to actually save every once in a while. xD

Hope that higher level will allow me to fight normally, without such lowly exploits...

Gah, playing on Nightmare as Warrior. Pretty low-level for the moment. What annoys me is that almost every major encounter (boss-grade enemy with a loooooooong healthbar) is only winnable through "threat-kiting", or "threat-ping-pong" - the means for victory are horribly limited as I've got almost no healing, little talent synergy.

Haha, same here. I decided I wanted to play a warrior tank for a change, since I never played that in Origins. Now I've been send out to assasinate this guy Friedrich with my party consisting of 2 warrior tanks (hurray!) and a mage for dps. The mage's main souce of damage is fire and the entire enemy team is (for some unknown reason) immune to fire. Now I'm stuck with only a Winter's Grasp on long cooldown for dps while I run around like a madman kiting 8 enemies around the room. A nightmare indeed....

Agreed. Fire immunity is ridiculous. I couldn't tank and spank him - he just did too much DPS, and there were a ton of glancing blows (1 damage) against him, despite my 2h DPS warrior having maximum possible strength, along with a +11 attack belt.
I ended up "pingponging" him between Aveline and Hawke - Hawke took a few steps back and charge-slashed him repeatedly, and the moment he started turning towards Hawke, I sent him away. Beth just stood around, pointlessly autoattacking and saving up mana for heals (I didn't get winter's grasp - only heal and improved heal).
Right now, I'm doing the Kirkwall Guard quest (bandit ambush) - those assassins are a pain in the behind. By logic, they should be agile and nasty, but squishy. Those sons of darkspawn have a ton of HP, some ridiculous defense and the capability of two-shooting a tank with shield defense on. Can't just stunlock and burn them down, can't control their aggro, can't just focusfire them with raw DPS... It's not "nightmare". It's poor balance.

Not the same thing, but I got every single achievement available on my first playthrough of Mass Effect 2.
