Ok, I'm having a bit of a Doh! moment after not having played MOTB for a while.

I'm trying to create a Warlock/EK and can't seem to unlock the  EK class even though I have the stated requirements of Martial Weapon Proficiency and Level 3 Arcane Spells.

Am I going to facepalm when someone points out the obvious?

Any assistance greatly appreciated.

Self Realization

Have found some more requirements I need from the manual:

Alignment: Any non-evil
Feats: Alertness, Iron Will
Skills: Diplomacy 8, Lore 4, Survival 2
Arcane Spellcasting: Can cast spells of at least level 3

Warlock invocations don't count as spells (for this purpose). I don't know what manual you took those requirements from but they're wrong, all you need is 3rd level spells and martial prof.

Thanks manageri.

Got them from the PDF manual, which I've ignored until now. And I should have kept ignoring.

So I need real grown up spells. Got it.

Thanks again.

Arcane spells. Wizard, Bard or Sorcerer.

Keep ignoring the manual, if you have any doubt, take a look at nwn2.wikia.com.

Warlock spells are arcane, although they are not counted as such for terms of prestige classes except HFW.

Wizard, sorceror or bard are only 3 classes which can become EK.

Thanks guys. Bit rusty on CC after a break, and not tried a EK build before.

The wording threw me a little on the class description tbh. EK probably isn't the best described class on the CC screen, suggesting Level 3 arcane would cut it. I wasn't aware warlock wouldn't qualify. Too bad - I had uber plans there.

Back to ye olde drawing board.

Thanks again.

Warlocks don't qualify for anything that requires the ability to cast spells of a certain level. They do qualify for stuff that requires a certain caster level. Those are the PnP rules anyway, Obsidian may not have followed all the rules or worded everything carefully.

Kaedrin's pack has some PrCs for Warlocks, if you're interested. One of them is similar to EK.

Warlocks don't have spells, they are spellabilities like creatures get. Note blasts are 1st level, and some 4th "level" invocations are treated as level nine. Each warlock spellability "level" will have multiple levels of invocations inside it with the term "effective" level. The invocations/shapes are actually metamagic as implemented just like empower.

They are intentionally treated as separate from wizards in the real rules, however in the actual game it would just be too hard to code that so a lot of the focus feats will help them. Of course the spell level in game is botched which both empowers them and makes them have some deep rooted issues. Fortunately they are entirely scripted, and kaedrin does do quite a few things that help them.
