Yeah, you'll never have a thread without the trolls and the nay sayers, but I think it is worth thanking Bioware simply for being the innovative and leading designer of crpgs that it still is. Some people may not agree with the path they've chosen for the latest game, but at least they are still trying to branch out and approach new markets - to keep the genre alive. (whether you want to see it or not)

Personally, I hope DA2 is successful and instructive in whatever ways it needs to be ... I hope the good things shine through and the bad are refined and given a different spin in the next installment. I'm not a blind fanboy, I know not all games are created equal, but I am a fan and because of that I hope Bioware continues strong into the new decade and beyond.

(and before anyone accuses me either way, I'm reserving judgement on DA2 until I actually *play* it ... I figure the company deserves that much)

Bruno Hslaw, you seem like a hypocrit now. Hating the so called "fanboys" and then ytou start talking about how the fans attack the newcomers.

Silly boy if you read the post I was pointing out the folly of how fanboys hate on people on compliment  posts for doing what they do on non compliment posts. Keep up the forum is easy to follow really.

Yeah, let's cut out the casual condescension.

If you disagree with another poster and can't express that fact civilly, then I would avoid posting at all.

I'll thank you after I've played it, or rant at you. One of those two options. Maybe a bit of both.

As a person who has worked with the public, I have to agree that it is nice to hear a "thank you" every once in awhile.  Sure, I'm getting paid for doing my job, but I still put a lot into it and make an honest effort to offer a valuable and rewarding service for the people I work with ... I have also seem wage slaves who resent the customers and treat them like garbage, and there really is a difference in the way people walk away from your encounters.

So, no, one doesn't have to thank Bioware for doing its job, but people should thank them for trying hard, and putting their hearts into a product, in hopes of making it the best experience they can.

If you don't think I tell people to be civil regardless of the content of their post, you aren't paying very close attention to the forums.

Civility is not a matter of debate. I don't care if the content of your post is that you dislike everything we've done, so long as you express your opinion in a civil fashion. Human decency is not something I consider a terrible imposition.

Once again...

"Listen, if you hate the game so much, why are you here? I mean, you've never played it, it's finished, so, at this moment, your opinion doesn't mean anything. Neither does mine. But instead of devoting all of your energy to hating something, why don't you go somewhere  else? If everyone else feels like you, they should follow suit. An empty forum is far more telling than a bunch of loud dissenters.

If you hate it so much, don't buy it. Like I said, I don't care if they're out of to make money. If what they make is good--so what? There is no company in this industry whose bottom line isn't cash. The BioWare that made the games that you deigned to approve was just as greedy as the BioWare that doesn't."

I feel really sorry for fan boys who think they have a love relationship with a games company that is so very sad. They must have no one in their sad lives if they start posting crap like BW loves me and made this game to show their love. They refuse to accept the reality that This is just business of course its all about the money for BW/EA.

I recommend you actually go out and meet real people seriously this kind of stalking from afar kind of creeps me out a bit.

You do realize that fanboyism and even people who hate on a game, is a good thing, right? Because there is this endless cycle:
Company make game= sell it for profit to make a living= gamers play it= fanboys/haters= appreciation(money)/criticism =more money= more funds to make a better game=a better game= more fanboys/haters= more money= more games... And so on
There are exceptions in my opinion, but this is what happens most of the time in actually good games

Here's another way to look at this thread. Think of it as an office "congratulatory" card. It's congratulating someone in the office on a job well done. Now pretend you don't like the person being congratulated. Do you reply "I hate you" or "You suck" or "I hate your work"? No you simply don't sign the card....get it?

I agree with the Original Poster. Bioware has consistantly put out awesome games, of which I have wasted countless hours of my life on, especially while on deployment. Bioware is **** hot, NOT hot ****.

Bioware is the only company I know that has like 768740 games in the works at any given time. Even now, they are working on TOR, Mass Effect 3, and if my nerdy website surfing skills serve me correctly, I also read something about a secret project in the works as well.

David Gaider and Mike Laidlaw are the gods of story telling, and should be worshipped as such. Thats not to downplay the creative efforts of the whole team of Bioware. Indeed, the whole team deserves props. I just prefer David Gaider's snarky way of defending great story telling to us simple forumite folk. Coupled with Mike Laidlaw's awesome canadian accent, this duo is unstoppable.

All props and unhealthy (and possibly dangerous) hero worship aside, I DO have a certain bone to pick with you Bioware.....

You're putting Yuri "I'm in every video game, cartoon and anime ever created since ever" Lowenthal in your otherwise master work of art?! Again?! Why, Bioware? Why?! You were my hero Bioware! And you ruined it with your p....poo....POOP MOUTH!

I hate you Bioware! I hate you!!

Based on the demo Bioware will once again bring us a game that will keep me up all night playing it. So thanks! Can't wait to get my hands on the game! Although I might also miss some schoolwork because of the game. Well, no worries!

If by 'singled out' you mean 'your name was never mentioned and your post wasn't brought up' then yes, I guess?

There's a reason I keep my warning posts very general - if only one person is being hostile, then I'll let them know in a PM. If a thread is taking a turn for the worse, then I post and let everyone know to cool it a bit. Because hey, everyone should be allowed to share their opinion, whatever it is, without being attacked and ridiculed.

I havent seen any "far worse" (I assume that means "insulting and harassing") posts by bioware fans on this thread. But if you point one out for me then we can both report him/her for harassment?

As critical as I can be, I'll thank any company that keeps putting in the effort to create quality RPGs. It's obviously not an easy genre to specialize in for developers, but it's the genre that has provided me with the most gaming entertainment, by far. I support this thread.

Sadly (for you) I refuse to be a fanboy. I believe that any company should continue to prove themselves with each and every new product. No one should live on their former glory if that has waned to a pale imitation of its former glory. In my nopinion if you want £40 quid off me prove why I should give you it.

I find it unreasonable to say, yes I like BG, NWN, KOTOR therefore BW from then onwards may only produce fantastic games. That is just stupid on so many levels. I much sooner judge people and companies on what they are like at present.

My view and yes not everyone here (although still a great many) Is that they lhave lost their way. I see them as lost and I just hope they get back to being a great company.

Bioware has only gotten more popular, but you seem to take that as worse.

Bioware has ALWAYS used the same Bioware formula since Baulders gates. NOTHING about that has changed.

What about  recent Bioware games don't live up to KOTOR or Baulders Gate? Answer that and i can start taking you seriously

To be fair its a bit late to change into doing Halo clones for BW. They got into this when RPG's were big. Really would we buy a RPG off say Bungie ? or a Gears of war game of BW. Your point is not really valid as to changing genre. They are locked in at this point.
