ME Fan myself.

HATED Dragon age; the writing was stilted and
atrocious, as if it had been written in English, translated to Dutch
then back to English. Terrible. (I am a Linguist, and more sensitive to
things like this than most.)

Also, the "much touted" blood effect
was sooo cheesy I turned it off; If blood splatters on you, and you
move even a bit, that splatter is now a smudge. All my characters were
just covered in red dots, not anything like blood, after fights. It
looked terrible.

But, I am a big Bioware fan! I want then to win!

So, I go to try the DA2 demo:

Wow Bioware; you're slipping!

A non-funtioning demo really really disinclines people to buy the full product!! (the PC version seems to work to completion for 5-10% of the posters in the tech support forum)

I beat that damn troll in the demo 3 times, 3 crashes: 1st step: Try the fixes; they don't work. 2.uninstall demo and
say "Well, I wouldn't play that POS if someone gave me a free copy. Die
Dragon age franchise, DIE: you are the dead weight slowly sinking the
Bioware boat!

Best,
--Ben

Please don't screw with ME3 like this!!!

I don't know why there is so much people complaining about everything with this demo. It worked perfectly for me. I even had no DX 11 issues. The only time my demo crashed was when starting messing with the developer console, something expected as there were files I was trying to access, which are on the final game, not in the demo.

Someone should have remembered to take their pills in time.........

The forums are an excellent place to ask for help on how to get things to work, try it !

This sandbox-behaviour doesn´t help you one bit, no-one will be the slightest bit interested to help you if you rant on like this. Or...maybe you should just leave and never to be seen in here again.

Er... If the demo worked for you then you're obviously far less likely to post in the tech support subforum. Clearly the majority of people here are going to be those with problems. As to the writing in DA:O, as a fellow linguist I think that you're completely wrong.

Even if this is true, surely the main reason for posting in a tech support forum is that the product in question doesn't work properly?

Well, I got that direct x error. I suppose if I was clueless like many people I wouldn't have wandered on to the forums to find the answer (really, the game should have directed me to the appropriate place).

Other than that, it ran smoothly. But I do think that Demos need to be extremely polished. It a game company cannot control the content in a minute slice of the game then how can they do it across a much larger piece?

The demo was released after the game went gold, which means, that unless we patch it at release we will have "loading" during cut scenes and a bunch of other things you can read about in the tech forum. So, colour me unimpressed by Demo merely because there were a few issues that cropped up there, when really, the demo should have been flawless by this point.

However, the content of the demo itself leads me to believe this will be a better game than I was expecting based on the idiotic marketing campaign.

I only encountered a couple of minor bugs. I had no crashes or graphical issues.

...except that Bioware have said numerous times that the demo was based on an older build than that which went gold...

Yeah. It's the same demo that has been played at press conferences for months. I'm sure is fairly close to the finished product in terms of mechanics, but usually in the last couple of months leading up to a release, going by what has been said by both Bioware and other developers, is essentially spent polishing.

Agreed. They are nice :)

To OP: People who didn't have any problem with the demo had no reason to come to the tech forum to report problems. The demo worked fine for a lot of people. Other people had or have issues but that's common to every single game that has ever been released. People here try to help them when they can.

But I guess you don't want help anyway... You've already buried the game, apparently without even trying to find a solution first.

You'd be surprised by the number of people who'd really liked to help... If you leave them a chance.

It crashed 3 times for you? I'd try wiping my harddrive or getting a new pc.

Heck, I *played* it three times before using the CC and Inventory... ummm... "openers" to mess around with things I probably shouldn't have! Able to make some nice custom Hawkes, but also able to crash the Demo right after finishing with the CC if I messed with too much (like trying to import a DA:end-state ;-)

Sounds like you have a trashy pc, ran it fine on several computers with different OS and hardware specs.

Sorry, not a relevant technical issue if you've already uninstalled the demo and don't plan to play the game. Anyone else experiencing crash issues should make a new thread. Thank you.

End of line.
