My situation: I live in Russia, but have a UK credit card & billing address.

My first problem was that my EA profile was tagged to Russia, which meant I got the 'Purchasing points not available to you ' error
Once i'd changed my location on www.ea.com to the UK that one went away

My second problem, I suspect because of my Russia IP address (although everything was going so slowly, it could have just been timing out issues) was that my UK credit card couldn't be verified.

So I then went down the Paypal route (I have a UK paypal account with the same billing address as my credit card) . That worked except that I only had 1 pound in my account, but no problem because Paypal lets you top it up with err... yes a UK based credit card despite having a Russian IP address.

So basically if you use Paypal, you can circumvent the "how dare people have their money in a different country to where they are" restriction, and you don't actually need to put money into your Paypal account.

No idea if the system will now let me download WK to Russia having had the temerity to pay in the UK, but we'll see.
