Yep, weapon overload causes those insanely long cooldowns. But I have found a way to bypass that (sort of). You can throw bomb the sh!t out of that demo with adepts and sentinels (throw can have a cooldown reset, if you cause a biotic combo). I wrote a short guide on how to spam Throw bombs about every four seconds in the demo. Check it out, if ur interested. social.bioware.com/forum/1/topic/323/index/9247536/1
Also, you count me in as well AreleX. Dunno how much I'll be playing this weekend, but I'll jump in, if/when I can. It will be nice to have some people that actually know how to play this game. So, yeah...
Just tried it out and finished it on insanity - throw bombs are amazing.
I didn't realise they could be used as a biotic combo, it gives quite a nice 'omph' haha.
Also, is it just me or are the cover-system controls slightly clunky? Had this annoying tendency to roll everywhere instead of taking cover - and it seems that enemy fire, at least turret-fire, is a lot more punishing than before.
Anyway, multiplayer should be interesting. Two more days before it's available right?
The new cover system can be pretty terrible, yeah. I had that very same problem you mentioned as well, and it occurs because the new mechanic is half assed and thus feels sort of unreliable and clunky. It's basically a blatant Gears copy, but they failed to do it right. I hope they improved it somewhat for the final game, otherwise it will just take some getting used to, I guess.
I think the main reason why enemy fire, especially sustained turret fire feels more punishing, is because there is no brief invincibility moment when your shields/barriers break, like it was in ME2. You do get a slowdown effect, but it doesn't really help you all that much, other than it notifes you that your defenses are gone and gives you an extra second to react.
Multiplayer should be available for everyone on the 17th.
