Also worth noting that there are new ATI and nVidia drivers due Monday (or Tuesday) I believe, which will increase performance and stability for DA2 on DirectX11 cards.

Woot!

For Steam, is it going to be a manual download? I cant remember if Steam doesnt you tampering with the core files...

No-one answered this question yet I assume it will download from Steam.

I had no issue with putting the high texture mod for Steam version of DAO.

All PC versions. Whether you get through the store or predownload, it installs the same way.

Any version of DAII you get will not have the High-res textures.

Actually I just sent an e-mail to the store I pre-ordered from, cancelled it. That is how 'whiny' I am. Meh... I'll get the game from a friend eventually.

Wow in all the overreactions I've seen on this forum ever this takes the cake as the most ridiculous. Its essentially a day one patch, why is it that big a deal.

Yeah, if these are coming out on Monday, I'm ecstatic. My biggest gripe with ME2 was the lack of high-res for the pc.

That's very true but on the other hand, it makes me wonder what else might be wrong or missing.

Ah, yes "PC gaming".We've dismissed that claim.

It's a nice gesture they add extra textures, don't get me wrong. But it doesn't take away the fact that console version has no DRM and we have to bear with SecuROM. (Which has problems setting timezones properly, btw.)

There is no securom on the disk did you not read the DRM faq or just pulling things out of your butt? I am going for the latter. And changing time zones is stupidly easily. Go ahead make another wild claim. Its saturday, when its Monday at 11:59pm and the Release check says Tuesday the 8th at 1800 then whine and moan it was horribly implemented.

Consoles don't have this. Otherwise explain to me how it is that people are playing the console version already??? And last time I checked it said "SecurROM", I don't know about you but I'm tired that they make us go throught this crap every time we buy a pc game.

And you don't need to be so rude. If your parents didn't give you a proper education that's not my problem.

sweet, thanks for the quick reply Fernando.

Am I right to assume it'll be automatically downloaded by the game? or will we have to do it manually?

It'll be a manual download - you will be able to grab it here on the site similar to a patch for DAO.  It will come with its own installer etc.

What?

Seriously?

I'm sorry, and if this sounds rude, I'm really sorry... But

High res textures are an extra?

Really? I paid good money on Steam, partly because the automatic download of patches is something I really like. I like not having to worry about extra things to download. Now you're saying, If I want the game to look nice, I have to download an extra pack? Manually.

Words fail me.

A day one patch? Really? Bioware was in such a hurry to get the game out of the door, that an integral part of the game data itself was not ready and thus, we have to download who knows how many gigabytes of data additionally on Monday. A launch day patch is something that fixes bugs and gameplay errors that have been found between the game going  gold and hitting the street. A launch day patch it is not, if it adds stuff that was already supposed to be on the disc that you bought from the store (not the mention the endless milking of Disc Locked Content).

The stuff that game companies are allowed to get away these days.... sheesh, it's appaling. To the people claiming that Bioware is awesome due to them releasing this texture files at all and for free and not as a DLC- get a clue, will you? If you want your game to sell, you cater to every market and platform. Releasing 1:1 console ports is not that and if Bioware has any self-respect left after all this, then I hope they learn their lesson. They should have pushed back the release of the PC version a few weeks, given us maximum possible graphics and then released the game with the feedback from consoles as a launch day bugfix patch.

Luckily, the local price for DAII is $36, which won't sting as bad as $60+ would if things aren't polished.

Don't know if this was asked yet but will Steam users have to download the high res pack separately or will it be on Steam?

No-one is saying that, the situation obviously isn't great but at least we get them.

I would have rather got that. At least it would have enforced this 'illusion' that the game was developed in parallel on all platforms. What the heck does that even mean?!

I'm betting it'll work using the DA Updater or something.  A manual install that'll work no matter retail or dd.   Doubt it'll be on Steam because EA hates Steam.

The release control software is also made by Sony DADC, the same team that makes securom.  But it is not the same product - for instance, it does not install anything etc just as we've stated before.  They have the same support site though which is the URL you're seeing.

As I said you didn't read the DRM Faq.

And its not crap, the release date is March 8th if I wanted to get on the console I could have easily done so having both the 360 and PS3 but no I wanted the PC version. It checks to see if its the release date thats all it does. If we didn't have release control Digital distributors wouldn't be doing a predownload until the day of release.

Like a dog getting scraps...

I guess the wheel has turned, eh?
We "old geezers" who've been playing PC games for years, practically supporting BioWare since it started, finally get treated to the scraps. Mmm mmm... now how does that taste for YOU? ^_^

I'm actually waiting for Gaider to come and say a few angry words, himself. Directed at those in my position, of course. :D
