Yes some people look like the Hawke model, but aren't there a huge variety of body types for males? My younger brother, a professional soldier, (MP) at 5'10' and 190ish lbs can bench press 200 lbs like they are push ups, and he doesn't look like that. (Although his triceps are as big as my biceps) Hell, my actual job is being a laborer for a mason and I can easily put up 225 lds multiple times and I'm a fat turd who actually tries earnestly to watch what he eats . I have REGULARLY seen some country ass country bumpkins (farmers included) perfrom near herculean feats of strength and they look even sloppier than me.

My point being the body type chosen for hawke is not unreasonable or unbelievable.

p.s. That guy in the 2nd pic tries too hard.

Well, if this all helps quell complaints about "bringing bikinis to sword fights", I'm all for it XD. It's just a game anyways. I can tell the difference between this and reality, and I'm not going to let virtual PC or NPC models lower my self-esteem.

Yea, no.
No Ordinary Human being can look like Male Hawke unless they're paid to do so (Male models)

Going to the Gym 3 times a week and eating healthy will not get you that Body.

I see ordinary human beings who look like this all the time. I personally know several, including my brother-in-law.  Also, what does being paid have to do with it? The only thing unusual about male Hawke anatomically is that his obliques and hips are underdeveloped considering the degree of pec/deltoid development, but there are many people who look like that naturally that just play sports.  Genetics also play a role in how wide your pelvis, ribcage, and clavical are, all of which contribute to the V  (Big upper torso/small waist) look.

I must admit I chuckled at the gym-sculpted hip creases.

You have them, too. They're just under layers of bodyfat.

Then I suppose there must be a few chuckles hidden under all the fat as well.

I hope you didn't take that as an insult. It wasn't intended that way.  It's really something, though. As different as most people look on the outside, they all look remarkably similar on the inside. Sure there are variations, but everyone has the exact same parts.

What's so freaky about him?  He has a wide shoulder to waist ratio, but other than that?

Here: a google image search field "athletic male"

This is not abnormal. It's only unusual if you don't see athletes every day.  Teenage athletes, especially.

A while ago I was reading the blog of an underwear model (you know, like you do). This is a guy whose job, except on the occasions when he has a photoshoot, is to be at the gym for many hours a day.

He described his routine before being photographed. To get the sharpest possible definition of the muscles under the skin, he begins a dehydration diet involving coffee and other things about 24 hours before the shoot.

Simply exercising all the fat off isn't enough to get the look required for modern beefcake photographs -- you need to drain the water out, too.

Shows how little you know, then. That body is perfectly possible with three days a week and healthy eating. My flatmate works out three days a week, eats properly and has gone from flabby to that build in under 2 years.

I'm still a bit of a way off, but I've been training at the moment and I intend to get shaped like that in a year's time. It's easy - but it takes a little discipline.

Genetics does play a part with abs though - but most males can get a body close to if not exactly like Male Hawkes by going to the gym three - four times a week with a trainer and learning to eat properly. Which doesn't deny you cake and chocolate - just learning how to space out your eating effectively.

Being hairless, that takes waxing, electrolysis or genetics however. :)

Probably a dehydration fast, to get rid of the excess food in the intestines.  Lots of models and bodybuilders will also sit in a sauna or take hot baths.  I've seen people get their bodyfat below 3%.  Of course they can't maintain that.  When they start eating again they rebound and gain like 10-12 pounds in glycogen and water alone in thefirst 24-48 hours.  But I also see lots of athletes who look just like Hawke.  Hawke is probably at about 8% bodyfat give or take.  Athletes in season maintain that all season long.

Hand over your man-card, you're out of the club, buddy

I'm annoyed by the fact that I don't get to decide what my own character's body looks like.

Male mage Hawke is a body builder, and my female Hawke will have huge boobs despite the fact that I might not feel like that fits every single character. If I was the kind of person that believed in immersion, being forced to have huge ****** would be the first thing to bring me out of it.

You're misreading me again. It's not big boobs specifically, it's the fact that all my characters are forced to have the same distinct body type.

If you were forced to choose just one size to have in a game, what size would it be? Isabella? Thought so. But I understand the RP issue. If they can make dwarf bodies and elf bodies...

In honesty I wouldn't mind the option for wiry, medium build and heavily built for males and petite, athletic/medium build, and thick and stacked for females.

Not that I hate big boobs in any way shape or form, but I'd rather they just make the default size a big B/small C (which is incidentally a pretty average breast size)

Sort of like SW:TOR's character creation, minus the stylized art.

Because there's a diff between a body built by going to the gym and quaffing protien shakes and a body built by farming and housework outside all day, eating whatever the f--k your mom and sister puts on the table.

Also, guys at gyms always have these lil chicken legs. And they just work their arms and chest. Strength comes from your core. Unless you're in an arm wrestling match rofl
