Manual? What's that? Just kidding.... People still use those? OMFG!

They dumbed them down since the average person can't read as well anymore.

They kept them around because the average person can't figure out how to play games on their own.

No matter which way you look at it, they're simply a testament to our stupidity.

Exclusive to the Collector’s Edition: a hardcover reproduction of Cassandra’s book from the game

Exclusive to the Collector’s Edition: an additional 16 pages with a behind-the-scenes section and an artwork gallery

A dedicated Side Quests chapter presents all side missions, random encounters and all additional optional activities with a checklist to reach 100% completion

The Walkthrough features annotated area maps with step-by-step action on the left-hand page and expanded
strategies and advanced tactics on the right

The Strategy & Analysis chapter focuses on high-level playing strategies and in-depth
analysis of the game’s underlying mechanics.

All-encompassing Inventory chapter features exhaustive lists and tables covering:
weapons, armor, accessories, special items, shops, runes, crafting, consumables and gifts

All-encompassing Bestiary chapter presents all details on: enemy ranks, locations, attributes, resistances, loot drops and more

A feature-packed Extras chapter covers every Achievement, every Trophy, every Secret and also presents a Dragon Age encyclopaedia and a story recap

Since the disappearance of meaningful manuals I have gotten strategy guides for my games.
I plan my mages from start to finish before I play the game, so I need to know the rules to do that.

With DAII since I have to play on Nightmare as well for Friendly Fire I'm looking forward to the Bestiary to give me an upper hand.

I do think it's the job of the company to document the games mechanics in a simple booklet but I think what you guys would find more enjoyable today would be an official guide or something. Nowadays companies find any excuse to charge you. So in the end it's all about money.

I on the other hand don't care for manuals. I prefer learning things as I go. To me is the best way to learn with both games and software. Don't get me wrong I would consult a manual but not depend on it.

Anyone remember the old Homeworld and Homeworld 2 manuals? Those were incredible.

Nowadays they're usually still tweaking the balance that any mechanics in the printed manual would probably be totally wrong.

Wow, I must have missed this. However, they are still missing the point with this offer. There is a difference between walk-through and mechanics. Mechanics should be at least available in the manual, as well as basic things like, oh, I dunno, a list of specializations, like a list of spells/abilities that actually prodice friendly fire affects and such, and maybe historical/lore snippets on locations and peoples.

No, basically people who bought it through EA Store, and a few other select sites can download the manual early. Everyone else is **** out of luck.

What? There is going to be a manual?? Great, more loose trash to toss out...
Manuals in games are basicly useless these days
Big picture on the Front
2 pages of legalese warning us about EULA's and health risks.
1 sentence explaining how to load the game ( ie. put it in the disk drive, push start, follow directions on screen)
1 small picture, with tiny labels, showing the keyboard layout/controller layout.
2 pages of very general game information (ie. warriors fight with swords, etc)
2 or more pages of credits, disclaimers and warnings they forgot on the first page
3 inserts describing new games to buy.
Feel free to use the above as a manual if you can't download the pdf file.

That's the basis of the OP's complaint.
