So I've had this idea for a long while now and after finishing Fable 3's lates DLC last night (which was actually good for a change), I figured I'd finally post it and see if anyone likes it. At the end of the "Traitor's Keep" DLC, you fight an evil copy of your Hero (won't spoil anything else). This evil copy has all of the powers you have, the same hairstyle, the same everything.

So what if in ME3, Shepard has to fight a reaper created clone from DNA taken by the Collectors from Shepard's corpse? One on one against an enemy that has all of you're abilities, the same class, give it red glowing cibernetic eyes, a pale almost dead looking skin shade, maybe biotic abilities to top it off (still the same class) and have him sent to kill Shepard throught the game.

Have this clone chase Shepard all over the galaxy trying to kill the Commander and reveal that it's a clone at the end of the game. This is very similar to what was done with the PS2 game, Rogue Galaxy" (great game). In that game, you travel the galaxy as a space pirate and you are chased 40% of the game by your clone, but he isn't revealed to be your clone until halfway through the game when he takes off a mask he wears.

I think this would be great if done just like in Rogue Galaxy.

I used Rogue Galaxy and Fable 3 as an example, nothing more, so please don't derail the thread on them. Remember we're in the Mass Effect forums. Small ones are fine, I just don't want the thread locked please.

Could be interesting, and a pretty good plot twist.

Better would be if you were the clone and the boss of ME3 is the real Shepard. Real Shepard has been recuperating in Cerberus's bacta tanks the whole time. You were just the only clone to escape the destruction of the station at the start of ME2.

Oh dear god no. This is one of the most cliched things ever done, and it'd just plain stretch the bounds of believability were it to happen. In the first place, the Reapers have no way of collecting Shepard's genetic data. In the second place; a fleet of giant god-like bug things have no need of an 'avatar' when they show up to wreck the party. They're, y'know, god-like bugs.

It'd feel like a cheap 'we couldn't figure out how to make the boss excitign' cop-out. I am fully against this idea.

Genetic data: The Collectors had Shepard's corpse. I pointed that out in the opening post. Even scorched, it still holds genetic material, otherwise Cerberus would have failed in saving Shepard.

God-like Beings: They still need agents and they can't follow Shepard everywhere. Why did you thing Sovereign needed Saren?

Actually, the Collectors never had Shepard. The Shadow Broker had Shepard, and tried to sell him/her to the collectors, but Liara and the Thane look-alike stole the body before the transaction could take place.

And Sovereign needed Saren because he was only a single reaper. This was explained in the first ME; Saren and the Geth were needed because had Sovereign revealed what he truly was, the races of the galaxy would have banded together and destroyed him. A host of reapers would have no need of a single powerful avatar once they showed up en-masse.

I'd lose a lot of respect for the series if this happened. In fact, I would be interested to see them get away form the whole 'hero fights end game boss' stereo type completly. I mean, shep is awsome...but c'mon....the whole concept of one man single handedly saving the day is both cliche and unrealistic. I would be excited to see an ending that revolved around a series of difficult choices, with unknown consequences, that play out as Shep moves from 'Soldier" to "general" Spend the game gathering allies (ability to do so and strength of allies based on previous games) and then finish it off as more of a 'strategist' than pit bull.

Really? Anyway, Cerberus has many double agents, t is possible. Vigil said himself that the Reapers used agents (indoctrinated) to find targets and expose refugees.

wouldn't be as much as if the Normandy SR2 gets blown up at the start of ME3

and then you play the rest of the game as Raiden :pinched:

and then Tali gets killed off before she can take her mask off

and the game ends with "finish the fight"

Kind of like what Fable III almost didn't totally fail to do, you mean?

But yeah, I'd much more be in favor of this idea. Granted, I'd still want to get in and mix it up with the enemies, but I don't need a climactic mano-a-mano battle for this series. I think it'd be far more awesome to have several epic battles, both on the large and small scale, culminating in either victory or defeat depending on how the battles went.

I don't think it's going to happen like that, unfortunately; BW is already setting up Harbinger (He says his name in the battles with Shepard, incidentally, that's how Shepard knew it for the final "Harbinger is coming" scene) as the main bad guy, so that probably means Shepard's going to have to go toe-to-toe with him at some point.

Not that I'd mind that, as long as its done in a suitably epic way; I just hope that victory or defeat doesn't only hang on whether or not Shepard can pimp-smack one reaper back out of existence.

How would Shepard go toe-to-toe with a Reaper? The Normandy is not considered toe-to-toe either.

Probably something along the line of boarding Harbinger and fighting his way through to the core, kinda like the Reaper IFF mission in ME2.

Not that again. Something  different. That would be copy pasting the whole concept. Would you like to go to a lava filled planet and enter and a mine to save a scientist in ME3?

Hey, you asked how Shepard'd go toe-to-toe with a reaper, I answered. Not saying I like the idea, just saying how it could be done in-game.
