Hm ... very interesting. Tallis is definitely not a normal Qunari though. Sten and the Arishok are very similar in behavior. Saarabes and Maraas are the only two that I saw that had some type of personality.

Also, the Kossith we DO see do not natively speak English. Which is why most Qunari are virtually mute, as they take shame in their ignorance of the foreign language.

If origins return in DA3, I'd really love to play as a follower of the Qun.

I have a hard time imaging a Kossith Qunari being ashamed of anything lol, but maybe. We've had very limited exposure to the Kossith ... Sten, the Arishok, the Saarabes, and Maraas, and a couple of smaller role Kossith ... we really have no idea what the overall attitude is of the Kossith  ...

The problem with bringing the Kossith in as a playable race is that you would have to be a Tal'Vashoth, because famale Kossith cannot be warriors if you believe Sten.

... Why couldn't Sten learn a second specialization? Really, he was the only one.

His role in the Qun, I'm assuming.

That's what they want you to think. ;) They don't want foreigners to see them stuttering or stumbling over their words (especially since we can use the words better than they can) so they keep their statements short and to the point, and their expressions deliberate and masterful so that we think they know what they're doing at all times. ;)

Not necessarily, but it would be easier to write. Qunari women are still expected to know how to fight in the case of emergency, but after the initial Call to Adventure that forces her to draw her blade (and especially after she gains companions that can do it for her) she would be expected to quit fighting and let the men handle it. Then we would go into Qunari vs. Tal'Vashoth territory.

Sten did say that they have some wild parties ... until people start getting killed lol
IDK ... Sten seemed to be quite articulate, just short in speech

Sten doesn't say a word about people being killed in qunari celebrations, but sure.

Actually, he does say it. It happens in the endgame if the Warden lived. He says that the Ben-Hassrath may perform executions in order to restore order after a qunoran'vehl is declared.

See here for the full conversation.

Yes, exactly ... I probably should have referenced it myself, I forgot that the line was dependent on your Warden living ...

I still have some difficulty imagining a Qunari "party" lol

I dunno. It probably depends on how out of hand things get. If someone gets so wasted they murder a few people -- by accident or on purpose -- then that would probably be grounds for executions to be performed so as to restore order.

Remember, the Qunari don't waste anything. So they probably wouldn't kill someone if the level of... revelry was just to the point of a casual beer and a toast to the qunoran'vehl.

I really liked how Dragonage Origins had different backgrounds you could choose from which affected your whole identity in the game and I would like to have a playable Qunari character in DA 3. I really liked being able to replay the whole game from a different perspective by choosing a different race. Maybe there could be war between Orlais and the Imperium, and the protagonist could come from the Qunari as Tal Vashoth, or as one of the elven/human slaves. I don't see that as a 'Tal Vashoth' that a female Qunari would be limited in what role she could pick. I also think that it might be an interesting tie to Fenris if the protagonist came with the background of having been a slave to the Qunari. You could have a rogue/warrior starting as serving Orlais, or a renegade Saarebas looking for freedom who starts out serving the imperium, and the cool thing would be you could switch which side you were on openly, or be a 'double agent' serving covertly during the game, or continue the faithful service of whichever side you started with. Also with the Qunari, being Tal Vashoth would be interesting to see if there were regrets to leaving the Qun, and whether the individual would adopt the 'Maker' as a substitute, or just be agnostic, etc.  I think somehow you just have to work Flemeth in there, maybe she grabs the protagonist from the slave pit/executioner's block for lunch one day and decides not to devour them after having a premonition of more intrigue to feed off of from them being alive than a day's lunch.

To me, The Qunari are simply a people who have seen the chaos and destruction and seek to make everything orderly. They put themselves before anything else and are a very passionate people. Their anti-mage stances are from their conflicts with Tevinter and they've seen what blood magic can bring. If they do war with Thedas, I wouldn't blame them but it almost seems as if battle would evolve them, make them reconsider.

I'm not saying the Qun is perfect, but it does give the Qunari something to aspire to. However, I really can't stand Redemption's take on using agents. To me, The Qun is stronger when spoken by a Qunari and how they interpret it.

Edit: Finally managed to create a clickable link, tried to do it for a poll but wouldn't work.
Sorry for being off topic, love the Qunari and hope for a Tal-Vashoth companion in DA3. :D

To me, the Qun are as interesting as anything in Thedas, not more nor less. The Qun seem likely to opportune themselves to invade if an Exalted March on the mages occurs -- and also likely to have a secret alliance with the Tevinter towards such an event. This would benefit both groups. The Tevinter stand to regain Northern and Western Orlais and many mages for use as a standing army to hold that territory. The Qun would have Eastern Orlais and Ferelden. Good show for both, possibly.

Nope,Tevinter did not sign the peace treaty two hundred years ago with the Qun.Everyone else did.Tevinter have been at war with the Qun ever since which is why Isabela was stealing the book.A political ploy during a war.Image IPB

The Qunari are what they are" A Militaristic Islamic Borg" as David Gaider says. Their existence in thedas and conflict with Tevnter are very losely based on the Ottoman Empire.Even the term submit to the Qun is very in line with Islam (which means "Submit") in Arabic. The only difference is they don't seem to worship any god and it's more like a lifestyle philosophy than a religion. So they are I suppose are a mix of Buddhism and Islam.
