So was Sten actually not full grown or this is just a retcon on the Qunari appearance? Like that of Flemeth.

He was born like that. Some Qunari are born without horns and some, who have left the Qun, saw their horns off.

Thats the lore-reason. The real reason is that Qunari was supose to have horns in Origins but they could not get it to work with the helmets so they had to skip it and now they have fixed that problem.

Okay, thanks.  Looks like Hawke was fighting a Qunari in the video last year then.  I never knew that.

At least they don't lock them in towers for life, or kill them on sight the way the Chantry does with mages in the 'civilized' lands.

I'm sure that Wynn, Morrigan, Jowan, and Irving agree all with you.

Sten is my all time favourite DAO character. I totally messed it up on the first playtrough trying to suck up to him but in the second run, when I took him everywhere and stood up to him when he called me a wuss, we became good friends. It was awesome. Best interaction ever.

You have to realize that Sten wants you to become a good leader and challenges you to be one. So if you act like a leader he will respect you.

I don't remember sten having horns. Maybe due to his skills or profession? I don't remember was Sten as Arishok of the Baraar'sad or some such?

I have a feeling that The Qunari in DA2 are going to be some bad-ass individuals. Oh? and aren't they introducing female Qunari in this game too? I love a tall, voluptous, "horny" woman...

"I am Sten of the Beresaad, the vanguard, of the Qunari people"

I always took Sten to be his title/rank, like Sergeant or something. And I believe hornless Qunari are seen as special and are often the ones sent into other race's lands as envoys etc because they won't intimidate people (as much).

Or I'm making this all up and should be pointed/laughed at. Posted Image

EDIT: Ah-ha! found the wiki entry:
"Some are born without them, but it is not considered a defect—on the contrary, those born without horns are considered special, as they are meant for a special role in qunari society such as a Ben-Hassrath or an envoy to the other races. Sten, as a soldier of the Beresaad, falls into this category. It is not uncommon for qunari who betray their beliefs to remove their own horns (as in the case of Armaas), though the reason for this act is not yet clear.["

Nature has given them fierce horns and strange eyes, and the ignorant look on these formidable warriors and see monsters.

Although strangely enough, nature has only deemed it necessary to do this at some point between games one and two. That is some speedy evolution, mein freund.

Seems like Sten's appearance is causing a lot of confusion. Peeps need to read up on more lore.

From what I understand Qunari are not a single race, but many different race under the same believe the Qun.

This is also what Sten confirms when talking to him. That when the Qunari invade that all will be brought under the Qun.

What I would see as possible is that the race with the horns & freaky eyes were the "first" Qunari.

Sten of the Berasaad could compare to Captain of the green barrets or something along those lines.

Atleast Sten is a title which would suggest he was in a leadership position within his group of Qunari when they came to Ferelden.

But this is my own opinion. it could also be that all of his group where Sten :s
this is something I find little information about though

In the Fade, his soldiers call him ''The Sten'.

So it's not just his name, but either a title, rank or nickname.

In case people are confused about the whole "Sten" thing, if you look on dragon age wiki then you will see that Qunari do not use names, they are addressed by their jobs/ranks. A "Sten of the Beresaad" is "an infantry platoon commander".

I agree.  But remember from DAO, Sten says that women are either priests or artisans (or maybe shopkeepers, I can't remember...) and so he is confused as to why a female Grey Warden can even exist.  But, since the Tal'Vashoth live outside the Qun, maybe it would be possible to have a female who wanted to fight.....great idea!
