Are Archery any good??  Do they deal good amount of damage??  I assump that you get your dex as high as possible and the rest into cunning and what specializations you should go for???

It's pretty nice, yea. Kinda tough the first 10ish levels but once you start getting to good archery talents it becomes a LOT of fun.



If you are looking for massive damage, however, you will be disappointed. Apart from arrow of slaying the archery skills are best used for softening up your enemies to the point where they become incredibly easy fodder for your melee companions. It is highly effective and a lot of fun, but you will not see high damage numbers the way you do with a mage.

The only specializations that is suitable for an archer path is Ranger and Bard, the two other are both for the melee spec. that make archer pretty well a support to go with.

I disagree high dmg is possible to acheive with archer, i have leliana completely spec'd as archer have her doing around 50-60 dmg a shot decently high crits and her max dmg acheived in a single attack is 618

Actually, the archer is not meant for dps. But you have probably one of the most damaging skill of all the game (arrow of slaying). My leliana is about 6% of the damage of my party, which is crap (alistair in full tank mod with attack penalty is about 8%), but she have the best single hit damage of all my character in all my gameplay (450 damage in one shot).

i completely agree the archer isn't meant for dps, but in their own right for what they do and offer to the party as a long range attack they can more than hold their own. leliana is one of my most useful characters. dps wise my pc is most total dmg contributes 45% of total party dmg
