At the same point every time. Just as I click Start Game after what would be the character creator. I've tried running it in full screen mode, not in full screen mode, on all available settings and it still does it. Using Windows 7.
For some reason I was able to complete three play throughs before this started being a CONSTANT crash - it happened a few times, but not EVERY time. Now it's happening every time. (well, it's happened every time for the last ten times I've attempted to play).
Any further ideas?

Try disabling V-sync. That worked for me.

I can second that. Tried out the demo today on my older machine... turning off v-sybc made all the difference. It never did for me in DAO, but for the demo at least... .
