As long as it's in Thedas, I'm hardly opposed to new setting/characters in each game.

Since Bioware enjoys putting us in the shoes of a preset [though malleable] character, I think they should just go ahead and put us in the role of a character who is ALREADY proven, ALREADY a badass, and ALREADY in a position of Power.
Basically put us in Loghain's shoes.

Elder Scrolls would probably be the more apt comparison.
To the OP, I'm fine with changing the protaganist as long as they don't leave the rather large plot threads hanging from DA:O and (probably) DA2.

lolwat is the appropriate response. FF Games pretty much all take place on their own universes. There is no narrative binding them together for the most part. Dragon Age is already nothing like them.
But you already knew that. You were just trolling.

Edit: Suggestions for what you want to see are welcome
I've always thought the Dragon Age series should never be about any particular character. They're just vehicles for the story of the Ninth Age, the Dragon Age.
I'd definitely like to see DA 3 take place in Orlais, perhaps with you character beingg a struggling/disgraced noble/general come back to save the country from the qunari threat or from the every day machinations of the counrt, eh? =p
I'd be perfectly happy to see a game with much less emphasis on combat and more emphasis on dialogue, negotiation, etc. Especially if it was designed by BioWare, because I've never had a reason to be seriously disappointed with them before.

We haven't even played the full game...how can we hate something we know so little of or even tried.
We don't hate Hawke (although I can only really speak for myself). I personally would like to bounce around Thedas, and see different parts of the world and different problems there are. This isn't the story of the Warden, this isn't the story of Hawke, this is the story of Thedas.

Though I'd be lying if I'm not still wildly miffed about the excuses they develop to get the former protagonists out of the picture. My Nerevarine was quite happy lording it up on Vvardenfell, she had no interest in Akavir.. >Vicious wrote...
Oh, and Elder Scrolls did it. And were/are wildly successful at it.
Still so long as the story doesn't suffer, I really don't care what they do. I have a slight preference for a different lead for each title, but I wouldn't be adverse to reoccuring leads so long as it makes sense within the context of the story. Bringing back the Warden, for example, just because there are many who are still attached to that character just for the sheer sake of appeasing the masses would annoy me. Same goes for Hawke. If there was a good story related reason to bring them back, then by all means, do so.

i'm calling DA goes assassin's creed style:
DAO - Warden
DA2 - Hawke
DA2.5 Hawke
DA3 - new dude/chick
The likelyhood of getting a 4th in a series from bioware is low to non existant. The only series I can think of that got more then 4 games was Bg.Even mass is gone after 3 and that was huge.
But then again a dev commented in GI that thedas had alot of stories to tell so maybe.
@Topic I'm sad enough I can't play my warden so no I don't want to keep starting fresh over and over.
I don't want to play as a ugly qunari

And his chief opponents should be the Grey Wardens, who are attempting to sieze the throne due to the weakness of the king.
Yes, I want to storm Weisshaupt, destroy much of the order [as Wardens are highly political in that country, they could concievably be enemies.] and set the stage for things to REALLY hit the fan in the world of Thedas.
Alas, I don't think Bioware has the guts to put us in the shoes of a character who sees people as a means to an end, even if that end is good.
So. I'll dream on.

don't need to be so harsh. Just ignore and eventually he go away.
back to the topic... more the want a new protagonist i think will be because as someone say dragon age is not mass effect. what i mean is dragon age was made to tell the tales of thedas and even if make sense hawke be in the da3 as protagonist would start sound like shepperd. In mass effect first we have story of shepperd and then the universe, here i prefer new protagonist to make feel like a bigger world. even then we alrealdy know the hawke story don't finish in the da2 so i like some dlc like awakening and shadow broker.
