@falconlord5: That idiot who was trying to use Aimo's work to spew "M/F was the only Real Love" nonsense?

As for immersion breaking Zevran liked sex. He and Isabela are pretty blatant in that regard. I severely doubt Merrill and Fenris will be as blatant. Bisexual or no.

So, for clarification, the characters don't tell you that they're attracted to both sexes unless you flirt with them as a s/s?

And we know this how?  Zevran was definitely a bi and he said he liked both if you asked him what his preference was.  He was blatantly bi.  Alistair asks him about a tattoo and he says that he'd have to bath Alistair in oil and massage it in.  That is blatant.  And another thing, it is not homophobic to not want to have a relationship with a bi/gay man or woman.  And why is it that the gays/bis are the ones bashing the straight people on this site.  It's simply unintelligent.  I haven't seen anyone who was straight bash gays or bis on any thread, but hell if we, who are straight, say something that gay/bis don't like, we get bashed and that's perfectly acceptable.

Erm hello? Gay man here. OW! Just got verbally kicked for defending a statement that people then swarmed on them calling them biphobic. Not everyone is bashing straight people. I dont think they are trying to either I think people just go a bit overboard. I mean I liek the all bi options, but as i said they shouldnt be Zevranesque as their sexuality shouldnt come up unless brought up by the player. That way everyone wins.

Wasn't pointing at you, really.  I just am tired of being called a homophobe because I don't want Zevranesque characters.  It was another post.  Not all of us who are straight have anything against gays or bis.  I don't care what anyone's preference is but in game it shouldn't be blatant because it ruins the immersion.

Yeah I see Isabel being quite like Zevran in that regard. HOWEVER! I have less of a problem with it as her and ZEv had that as part of their characters, promiscuious without (much, cause there was some) fussiness over which gender. I think I can deal with Isabela being like that a bit more now if they are all Bi cause then it becomes less of a situation like this:
"OMG A GAY GUY IN DAO IS A ****! THEY MUST ALL BE"
now its more like :
"OH LOOK HOW DIVERSE THESE ROMANCES ARE! THATS NICE :D and as a side note isnt Isabela kinda Randy for everything?"
But the great thing is you can have it as part of Isabela and Zevran's personality now without it seeming like everyone is like that of a particular orientation cause they are allso different to romance. :)Posted Image

That's the one. Which is a shame, 'cause Aimo does some good work.

I do hope this thread hasnt become an argument between sexuality.
That would really be innapropriate.

I have to say what I most dislike is the fact that they are so malleable according to PC. It's like Hawke is Maker in disguise and the moment he/she shows up everyone's fair game. What's the point of creating a different Hawke for a different romance when you can get one giant cat-fight in a single game. An opportunity for a new role of Hawke, yes, but don't kid yourselves - if they can score all four achievements in one game most players will do it.

Besides, not everyone is capable of roleplaying "outside of the box" as it were, and go in a new game thinking, "Right in this game Hawke is gay/straight and so is this character. We're gonna have some sweet, sweet time together!" Some players simply don't have it in them. I know I don't.

I have no problem with bisexual characters. My problem is everyone being bi sexual. Just not realistic, someone should be just gay, others just straight, others bi, everyone being bi just bothers me.

*delurking*

Of course I play Dragon Age for the realism. Magic, dragons, and darkspawn exist in the real world. I have an ogre who lives next door, in fact. His name is Stan, and he likes cheese.

This argument of realism makes little sense to me. It's a game. I play games to escape reality. That's the whole point. And if I want to romance this character or that character regardless of my Hawk's gender? Quite happy I have that choice now.

Generally speaking (not regarding the quote above, but other comments throughout the thread), it's my understanding that YOU as a player have to initiate the romances. It's not hard to ignore that little heart icon, is it? It's a tad petty, IMO, to renounce a game based on Bi content  - and then refuse to play future Bioware games based on such a frivilous detail?

Your loss, I guess.

Different things break immersion for different types of players. As I've said, not everyone can toss reality out of the window when they play (which is a shame because there are some ****** stuff in reality that need to be tossed out).

I, for one, love Bioware games because of the stories they create and the worlds these stories are set into. I'll just skip one part of the optional content and move on :)

The fact that there are so many for whom playing a character who worships pretend deity/deities, kills many and has the option to be an outright murderer, and can have indiscriminate sex with many (think of the Pearl) crosses no religious or moral lines, but the possibility of a gay/bisexual love interest to romance in a long term way does always boggles my mind. Murder and idolatry are obviously much less serious offenses than a loving committed relationship between two people. O.o

BW is never going to make everyone happy. Based on their own metrics, I suspect they gambled that the majority would appreciate or at least not mind having as many romance options as possible. Allowing Any Hawke to romance any LI or not romance anyone as the player chooses is the compromise that gives the most choice. Given the financial and time realities they are working under, it's about the best we can expect even if it isn't ideal.
