The characters are only into same-sex romance if YOU'RE into it and you choose to pursue it. But don't say that offering everyone the chance for whatever romance they want to pursue is somehow "cheap," I don't think that's a fair description at all. It's a game, and if I want to pursue a same-sex relationship with Merrill, I want that chance. The dialogue choices make it pretty obvious what you're doing, with the icons and all. If you don't want to pursue a same-sex relationship, just don't. Problem solved.
And I want you to have that chance.
And I want everyone who wants purely homosexual romances to have that chance without having every character say they go "either/or".
And I want everyone who wants purely heterosexual romances to have that chance without having every character say they go "either/or".
If BioWare is making every character available for every romance (and that is a good thing), they should allow the player to choose what sexuality they want to deal with *before* they even meet these characters. That way you could choose ******, hetero, or bi, and be off and running.
Playing these games, with the romances, is about fantasy. One person's fantasy should never be more important than another's.
