Why would I want to be a stupid, self-sacrificing hero? It's WAY cooler to be villainous!

You could always be a Straight Edge Villain.

One of the major reasons why a hero wants to save a nation/world, is because it endangers their loved ones.

As cliche as it sounds, love and friendship is what drives the hero to perform these inhuman tasks.

I like the interaction with the characters but the "sex scenes" should disappear. They are just a waster of time and resources.

the sad part is sex sells to much for it not to be included.

I think people want them not in the game think so because they seem to say:'Here, this is what you wanted, right?' And then we they feel slightly insulted.

Oh hey I'm about to save/conquer the world, why yes I'm gonna pursue a romance which is a thing which takes an absurd amount of time instead of just having one night stands like a real badass

Romances have no place in RPGs, unless the storyline doesn't involve something that should take all of your time and concentration

I do agree that while your on a quest to save the world, romance should wait a little, but the hero is human/elf/dwarf/hobbit/space alien aswell and they also have a life after saving the world.

If i am correct didnt the whole hero needs to save the world start with a princess(Li) who needed saving?

Well considering that DA:O was about two years of time and DA2 is over ten years...let's just say that if it takes you longer then ten years to romance someone...your doing it wrong.

Oh wait it's an internet message board. :P

Well technically Rorschach wanted to romance Nite Owl, he just didn't really know it.

Until games reach a level of unprecedented sophistication that it has been sorely lacking for years, (i.e romances that don't feel forced or contrived) then I will proudly remain a bachelor. Its also worth mentioning that a ten year timespan may allow for more natural, flowing relationships, but I won't be holding my breath however.

In defense of my favorite comic book character, that scene can be interpreted in multiple ways. Like in V for Vendetta, where the reader has to determine if V is a liberator or a  madman hell-bent on revenge. I mean Rorschach, a man with no friends, will of course value the friendship of the only person willing to tolerate him. I only have one close friend - does that mean I am gay for him?

Screw that, ten years of no strange?  What was the point of saving the world again?

Duke Nukem disagrees with this thread.

Actually, seeing as we got our greatest heroes from Greek literature, and most of those heroes found time for romance, I'd say your argument fails.

That said ... who wanted to be a hero anyway?

Well the reason I interperet it that way is because Rorschach was a complicated and resentful relationship with his mother, and you can see that in the way that he talks about women. I don't think he's gay, or at least I don't think that he'd allow himself to be gay, but it seems very possible in that scene that he is pretty much in love with Dan.

Obviously the romance parts were made up/romance wasnt really involved.
