On the screens the shoulder part
does look very good. On the other hand reative24s texture has more
metallic gloss to it. Damn, you give me a hard choice here. Going to
have a look ingame, then I'll decide.
...or I'll force you two to work together, creating the ULTIMATE TEXTURE, muhaha.
The on gallery screenshot are rather pretty old, first release if I recall. You'll better to check by yourself

Just tested it and...WOW, simply awsome. I hope I don't hurt anyones feeling, but your texture is THE ONE. [smilie]../../../images/forum/emoticons/smile.png[/smilie] It's great. It offers the details one would expect without the jittering / overdetail of reative24stexture that makes the texture edges look aliased.
Might I ask though: I see your first file - the original project file - has been downloaded the most. But according to your description it lacks a specular map for the armor. That actually confused me a bit there. Why should I want to get the file without the specular?
And could it be possible that you mixed the file names up with the desciptions? Because the second download is titled "CUSTOM", while in the description it says "alternate". The third file is named "ALTERNATE", but in the description it says "proper". A little bit confusing there if you ask me.
And what's the difference between the specular - third file - and alternate specular - second file? Mhm...I'm just going to have a look ingame. ^^
/edit: Yay, I love the alternate specular texture (second file)! It makes the armor shine less metallic, but more "milky" glossy...ehrm...well I dunno how I could possibly describe it, guess I'm lacking the vocabulary. :innocent: Anyway, I'll stick with the alternate gloss, it makes the armor look special, like one of a kind.
PS: I'll add your download to the first post and change the title of the topic if you don't mind.

Short version: I've already chosen my version of desire, it's the one with the alternate gloss, which I absolutely love. Again, great work. Have a good sleep then.

Thanks to IKe0s for the cleanest textures mod (I have see that you start a mod for proper textures, good luck)

If you like an other alternativ, I have made one too http://social.bioware.com/project/751/ , my version is perhaps not better as the one from IKe0s but has a more metallic, dark age look. For me the choice is so hard that I change them day to day.

I like your version a lot arcDaniel, it doesn't seem too dark to me, and does a good job making the armor look better in general.

Well,
that's yet another improvement of the texture, though this time it's
not really about resolution and detail, both are great in that. It's
about taste. Some may prefer the brighter texture of IKe0s, other may
agree on your opinion saying that a darker tone would fit the game
better.
Anyway, if there's no objection from your side, I will put links to both textures into the start post. [smilie]../../../images/forum/emoticons/smile.png[/smilie]

Texture is definitely sharper and more HD. However, The armor surface is not smooth and look chaotic. Is there no way to make it smoother, like the other silverite armor.
What do you mean? For me it's as smooth as any other armor. reative24s texture was the one that seemed kinda chaotic, with jittering / aliasing at the texture edges. But for the two new ones they don't show any resemblance...at least to me.
Or do you mean the "details", the structure of the armor at the chest piece? Well these ornaments are meant to be there I guess and I think it adds to the armors beauty. Why should it only be a plain metal plate with no adornment?

the files are posted as *.dazip because bioware asked that type of file, you can use winzip or winrar or .... to decompress the file and copy it on the right place. here somthing little, the mod from IKe0s is only 1file *.ERF my mod are more files in *.dds, so if you will change one mod you need to delete the other, in the override folder.

Normally it looks fine, but when zoom in, the armor look very artificial like a melting plastic model. The adornments should be there as intended. You should look at the other silverrite armor. The metal part is much smoother and the line is crisper.

I'm still not sure we're talking about the same texture here...
This is what reative24s texture looks from close-up and I always thought it looked like melting plastic, or like wax:

But this is the texture from arcDaniel and to me it looks brilliant. Of course on some angles you don't see the metallic glimmer, but that's...well to be exptected I guess:

And if you think I'm making this up, well you're probably right. It's called "using ones fantasy"...guess this got lost somewhere down the line, when games started to place graphics over content.
Anyway, I like the twisted / bended / knittet ornaments of the armor. Yes I agree, the shoulder part could still be better, but at least they don't look like

I talking about the same texture as you. Compare the arcDaniel's one to the Ogren's armor in your screenshot. Metal grain in Ogren's armor is much more refined. And look at the shoulder of the BD armor, it looks like the metalplate there is melted and twisted. Anyway, I think it is a matter of taste.
Well, I m sorry.. but bear in mind that I did em in the spare time.
Perhaps, yes. I can do better; but still, without any high poly object and the orrendus lighting system, at the end for a marginal improvement over the current result, I will get only one big, BIG headchace.
Forgot. I've put on propuse the "plastic" effect at close distance
By the way, for a moment -.-" I got the screenshoot key working, here one 1920x1200:

Still, quality suck ! in game is far better:wizard:

@all:
I think that it is not possible to make a perfect Textures only by improving the original texture, it must be repainted from scratch, here my Hope is that Bioware will do something, because every Armor look so nice, and we see that all the details were made with love for every little detail. But the EPIC Dragon Blood Armor rrrrrrrrrrrrrrhhhhhhhhhhhh really suck
PS: I was think that the dragon blood armor is the best armor in game, but I have fount one, that is in most of the case better, and the looking, only WOW (do you know wich I mean :-) )

If u want to remove the fake bump mapping for keep the original detail, it's plain simple; just remove "*n.dds" form uor override directory and u'll be stick with it.
About the darkness thing, Im playing on nvidia.. and the texture look like just fine in almost all the context. I mean sometime it is even too dark ( see the below image ).

In other hands, Im playing with the uncompressed and with a CUSTOM-ALTERNATE mix.. so I dont know [smilie]../../../images/forum/emoticons/wondering.png[/smilie]
Once and for all, some texture can be improved; or at least there some chance to bring back em in a SD quality.
Take the wagon at example:
It can be easly upscaled to:

So, perhaps in allowing time we will see some decent detail
