Where are my royalties? I patented that, hehe.

My lawyers found a loophole. You patented Rivain-Ferelden not Rivaini-Ferelden.

It is hilarious how uncomfortable the subject of race is with people. I enjoy watching you people walk on eggshells for fear of offending someone.

Well I don't know what cave you live in you relate skin color to voice/accent. I'm dark skinned and I have a Californian valley girl accent....just sayin'~ <_<

See that makes sense. My Lady Hawke is a Rivaini-Fereldan then.
:kissing:

Ok I had to wiki that so Isabela and my Lady Hawke have a common heritage. Lovely!

How so? Both Isabela and Duncan are Rivain (black) at least from heritage and they both have british accents.

I thought he/she was referencing real people which invalidates that statement. I had to wiki Rivain and it makes sense for my Rivain-Ferelden Lady Hawke to have "Fereldan" accent since she was born there. Right?

Problem solved.

Well I'm pretty sure Duncan wasn't born in Rivain he just had a  parent from there whereas I'm fairly certain Isabela was born there. So I was just saying it makes sense lore wise if a black Hawke has a british accent. And you're right skin color has nothing to do with your accent it's about whatever surroundings you've grown up in.

Royalties....duh!

Or have your Hawke lose that emo hairstyle.

Or try and make a Sean Bean lookalike Hawke cause I don't have the demo mod.

Your choice. (Miranda voice:) No pressure.

Well if you crush any eggshells you will be banned ... eventually. It's not like people are PC because they choose to, they have to.

To this 31 year old Greek guy, it still looks emo.

So it's either royalies or Mr. Bean, then...

I always thought Duncan looked like he was of Indian descent. Also, DA: O really messed up the darker skin tones, ME2 nailed it pretty well.

No you're right. I didn't know about Rivain and it makes much more sense for my roleplaying. =]

Isabella does not look black at all. Is her skin tone supposed to be the darkest you can have? If so that's a little disappointing.

There is a bit of a fluffy in politics and education about calling someone 'black' or 'white' or whatever. Personally, I believe 'African American' is a bad choice of words. It implies 1) the person is American, and 2) Africa is a country. 2 is definitely wrong, and 1 would be wrong if said person was not an American. Furthermore, not all people from Africa are black. What about those in Egypt? Egypt is an African country, but the majority are not black. A better way to distinguish ethnicity, if you want to be more "policitally correct," would be to have their country (not continent) first and their current citizenship last (only if they emigrated). For example, one Sociology professor in my university is an immigrant from Kenya, so he is a Kenyan American.
Anthropologically speaking, light(er) skinned people from Europe, the Middle East, and South Asia are Caucasoids; most blacks are either Capoids or Congoids (both formally Negroids); and Asians and Native Americans (both continents) are Mongoloids, but these terms have fell out of favor due to political correctness, particularly about the term Negroids.
/offtopic

Just imagine your character is a qunari.

People still teach that ignorant crap in universities?! :o

According to the "three races" theory,  British, French, Indians and Pakistanis are caucasoids while Burmese and Thai are mongoloids. Does that make sense to you? If it does, then I suggest looking at a map and/or traveling to those countries. Anthropologically-speaking, an imaginary line dividing different countries doesn't magically create a different race of people. Someone with ancestry tied to India or Pakistan is going to look a helluva lot closer to someone with Thai or Burmese ancestry than, say, someone with British or French ancestry.

Wanna know why the term "caucasoid" encompassed the middle east and south asia, despite the fact that south asians look more similar to southeast asians than western europeans? It had nothing to do with anthropology, and everything to do with politics: Jesus for the middle eastern encompassment, and aryan/swastika for the south asian encompassment.

Yeah, you could be correct. But I also thought he could have been based on the Portuguese. Well, the tanned Portuguese at least. I thought it made sense considering all the accents that have been chosen for the game thus far have been in quite close proximity to the (English) Fereldens.

By the way, the cradle of manhind seems to be Africa, but there is absolutely no evidence that the older human forms were black or had black phenotypes. As manhind evolved further, people adapted to their region. For example, most monkeys (our nearest cousins with respect to evolution) have a rather white skin below their fur, like chimps. If you think the first humans some million years ago looked like Denzel Washington you may be awfully wrong...

*sigh*
Yes, you are right that the cradle of "man" was Africa... partially. ****** erectus- our closest extinct relative, not counting ****** sapiens (Archaic)- roamed out of Africa and into the Middle East and up into Europe and Southern Asia. H. erectus is not considered human.

No, you are wrong about our closest cousins. Our closest cousins are apes (specifically chimpanzees), not monkeys. Monkeys (and prosimians) are the furthest from us in the evolutionary tree.

No, humans weren't around millions of years ago. That time frame ("some" million years) would belong to the genus of Australopithecus as well as ****** habilis. ****** sapiens didn't come along until ~0.5mya, and these were the Archaic variety of humans, sharing the Earth with both ****** erectus and ****** neanderthalensis. ****** sapiens sapiens (modern humans) didn't appear until ~0.2mya.

And now you know. And knowing is half the battle.
