I thought he/she was referencing real people which invalidates that statement. I had to wiki Rivain and it makes sense for my Rivain-Ferelden Lady Hawke to have "Fereldan" accent since she was born there. Right?

Well I'm pretty sure Duncan wasn't born in Rivain he just had a  parent from there whereas I'm fairly certain Isabela was born there. So I was just saying it makes sense lore wise if a black Hawke has a british accent. And you're right skin color has nothing to do with your accent it's about whatever surroundings you've grown up in.

There is a bit of a fluffy in politics and education about calling someone 'black' or 'white' or whatever. Personally, I believe 'African American' is a bad choice of words. It implies 1) the person is American, and 2) Africa is a country. 2 is definitely wrong, and 1 would be wrong if said person was not an American. Furthermore, not all people from Africa are black. What about those in Egypt? Egypt is an African country, but the majority are not black. A better way to distinguish ethnicity, if you want to be more "policitally correct," would be to have their country (not continent) first and their current citizenship last (only if they emigrated). For example, one Sociology professor in my university is an immigrant from Kenya, so he is a Kenyan American.
Anthropologically speaking, light(er) skinned people from Europe, the Middle East, and South Asia are Caucasoids; most blacks are either Capoids or Congoids (both formally Negroids); and Asians and Native Americans (both continents) are Mongoloids, but these terms have fell out of favor due to political correctness, particularly about the term Negroids.

According to the "three races" theory,  British, French, Indians and Pakistanis are caucasoids while Burmese and Thai are mongoloids. Does that make sense to you? If it does, then I suggest looking at a map and/or traveling to those countries. Anthropologically-speaking, an imaginary line dividing different countries doesn't magically create a different race of people. Someone with ancestry tied to India or Pakistan is going to look a helluva lot closer to someone with Thai or Burmese ancestry than, say, someone with British or French ancestry.

Wanna know why the term "caucasoid" encompassed the middle east and south asia, despite the fact that south asians look more similar to southeast asians than western europeans? It had nothing to do with anthropology, and everything to do with politics: Jesus for the middle eastern encompassment, and aryan/swastika for the south asian encompassment.

Yeah, you could be correct. But I also thought he could have been based on the Portuguese. Well, the tanned Portuguese at least. I thought it made sense considering all the accents that have been chosen for the game thus far have been in quite close proximity to the (English) Fereldens.
