I don't see how those are stereotypical of black people. Seems more typical of soldier characters, which Jacob is.
Black people go on suicide missions?

Black guys always die first dude. Always. Jacob simply accepted that fact and didn't try to run away from it.Xeranx wrote...
It got real close though: "looks like a suicide mission, I volunteer".

Yeah I've never gotten why white people are absolutely okay with saying white and being called white, but then we move to this whole "african american" rhetoric as soon as black people come up.Bann Duncan wrote...
Black. The word is black.
White people, don't worry about political correctness so much. It just looks stupid when you use "African American" like that. We're not offended.
Yeah pretty much why I added then we go hate the rich!, to the end there. I say the best policy is to hate EVERYONE EQUALLY. Or well because they are a jerk to you or something.android654 wrote...
I'd prefer a bomb that would makes us all gray. But, to be honest people are always going to marginalize other people for whatever the reason. I just try not to think about it, kind of have to.

Haha well yeah, obviously "Hey whitey!" isn't my preferred handle.android654 wrote...

I think it comes from people who perhaps don't deal with a lot of different cultures, so they try not to offend. at least that's what I figure. Being called black doesn't really bug me, but I do have a name which is preferable.

Well, yeah. I'm not saying I'd prefer "Hey blackie/brownie!" to my name, but I think spelling out "African American" to refer to all black people is silly. Case in point: Americans referring to black people, IN AFRICA, as "African American".

Daddy (Malcom) Hawke's race is up in the air. BioWare probably did that so your Hawke can be whatever you want him to be. If he's black/dark skinned, maybe he was a Nevarran. If he's butt ugly, maybe he was an Orlesian. <.<
I have 3 cousins who are half Filipino. Two of them are white with blonde hair, the other is dark brown with black hair. It's possible.pezit wrote...

You know your two siblings are both very white right? Just saying.

Not to mention not all africans are black. I wonder if there's a stat somewhere on the percentage of black people in africa.

Good job by bioware if that's the case, otherwise i imagine i would have a heard time playing a black character without totally ruining immersion.

Someone said black people in DA:O/DA2 are white people with makeup, and to this I'll add +1.
I want to have a negress running around; I want my smart black professor; neither is possible due to the lack of implementation of hair, and proper skin tones; never mind adjustments to the bodies and faces.
They never look black, esp. not African, since at most they will get straight hair, and you only get that through protein solving hair treatments; no 'fro and I don't see my characters investing heavily into extraneous hair treatments that burn the scalp.
Besides the skin.
DA is not a alone offender, most games do it badly (FO3 and FONV are jokes in this, since your chances of finding protein solving hair packs is close to zero in the post apocalyptic wasteland, and it looks hilarious on people in dirt clothing begging for water ~ "what, you spent a 1000 caps on your hair, and now you want my ****ing water?"
EDIT: And calling them African is stupid, or I want my white European lady, but call it illuminating the fact that I don't want just a poor black re-texture, but more of the defining features of what we here, around the sol, on tellus call those black people of African decent (one you can actually get, save their oppression)
