No elven tree cities or cities in the clouds, what's the best looking human city you've seen in nwn2, and why?

Probably Mulsantir.

The city in BGR aren't bad either :)

I agree with Shallina, Mulsantir is definitely the best designed city in any custom or official NWN2 mod. The view your got overlooking the sea was spectacular, and it really had a convincing feel to it. Definitely excited to see Baldur's gate in the BGR, that may well end up being my new favorite.

Nothing in NWN2 really passes as a 'city'. Neverwinter might be classed as a large town at best. Mulsantir was little more than a village.

It seems that cities have got progressively smaller with each new game. Baldur's Gate in BG1 and Amn in BG2 were decently sized cities. Neverwinter seems to have been downgraded between NWN1 and NWN2, and by the time SoZ came along it was a shadow of its former self.

Well, I'm not saying it's absolutely great or best looking, but frankly, I'm quite okay with my own little city... some random pics can be found here.

Incidentally I can't load that page in firefox as it displays for a second and then goes all white. I suspect it's something wiht the banner. IE works.

For anyone planning to build a realistic city, this looks like a handy resource:

http://www.io.com/~sjohn/demog.htm

By those definitions, not even Neverwinter would be considered a 'city' as it was portrayed in the game. It didn't have a single chandler or buckle-maker... Posted Image

Neverwinter's official population is 23,000 according to the FR wiki and wikipedia. Which makes it a big city by that sites definition. Whether it felt like it is another matter.

Calimport with 192k, Waterdeep is 130k in the city proper. Athkatla with 118k, Selgaunt 52k, Suzail (capital of Cormyr) with 45k, Baldur's Gate with 42k, Silvermoon 40k. Crimmor 35k. Phlan 3k

DannJ's link gives a way to estimate general population from city population.
And here are most of the cities.

Based on the info in that link I'd say roughly 6 million

Wikipedia has populations for various cities and nations. It's probably somewhere above 60 million.

The biggest difference is that the previous link only listed major cityies where as the wikipedia artical lists the population of entire nations, for eample the 3 major cities and Calamshan only account for about 1/10th the nations total population (which seems kinda odd to me).  Based on the Wikipedia Article I getting about 45 million from the most populous nations in Faerûn list, which whould probably make 60 million fairly accurate for all of Faerûn (agein  thats about 10 times the population of all the major cities).  I still find it odd that all the major cities only account for about 1/10th the population though.

DannJ's article, which is based on historical data from medieval Europe, gives the estimate that 3% of the population is in cities. I'd guess we might see a higher concentration in cities, given that there are actual orcs and such to threaten the populace.

Holy hell I agree with you, that link looks incredible, it amazes me that that can be done with the NWN2 toolset.

Wow. That wins by a landslide.

I do really like Westgate though.

Pros from PoE gets props for feeling like a city.

Phlan from the conversion of Pool of Radiance gets a lot of credit just because I like the way the place changed from chapter to chapter.

The best city is clearly the Avorin Islands. I didn't know we were counting non official campaign cities.
