It seems that cities have got progressively smaller with each new game. Baldur's Gate in BG1 and Amn in BG2 were decently sized cities. Neverwinter seems to have been downgraded between NWN1 and NWN2, and by the time SoZ came along it was a shadow of its former self.

Incidentally I can't load that page in firefox as it displays for a second and then goes all white. I suspect it's something wiht the banner. IE works.casadechrisso wrote...
Well, I'm not saying it's absolutely great or best looking, but frankly, I'm quite okay with my own little city... some random pics can be found here.

By those definitions, not even Neverwinter would be considered a 'city' as it was portrayed in the game. It didn't have a single chandler or buckle-maker...

Wikipedia has populations for various cities and nations. It's probably somewhere above 60 million.
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Faerun
The biggest difference is that the previous link only listed major cityies where as the wikipedia artical lists the population of entire nations, for eample the 3 major cities and Calamshan only account for about 1/10th the nations total population (which seems kinda odd to me). Based on the Wikipedia Article I getting about 45 million from the most populous nations in Faerûn list, which whould probably make 60 million fairly accurate for all of Faerûn (agein thats about 10 times the population of all the major cities). I still find it odd that all the major cities only account for about 1/10th the population though.

DannJ's article, which is based on historical data from medieval Europe, gives the estimate that 3% of the population is in cities. I'd guess we might see a higher concentration in cities, given that there are actual orcs and such to threaten the populace.Shaun the Crazy One wrote...

Holy hell I agree with you, that link looks incredible, it amazes me that that can be done with the NWN2 toolset.

I do really like Westgate though.
Pros from PoE gets props for feeling like a city.
Phlan from the conversion of Pool of Radiance gets a lot of credit just because I like the way the place changed from chapter to chapter.
