I just had a very very strange bug. I had just killed some blood mages for a quest, and I left the Elven Ruins to go to Redcliffe Village. When the little tracker on the map got to Redcliffe, it brought me back to the main menu saying quite simply,

Unable To Load Area.

I then hit the resume button on the main menu and went to my last save which had been 15 -30 minutes ago
and my character could run unnaturally fast, like superman trying to get away from kryptonite fast, I then tried to load another area and the game crashed.

Installed patch 1.01a

Win Vista 64bit

It now seems that I can no longer go to Redcliffe village from anywhere which means I cannot finish quests, this is a serious problem, hopefully it hasn't happened to anyone else!

It seems this problem has gotten far worse, I now cannot load any save games, without the characters not even appearing, nor being able to move, This is on either of my characters, and I cannot even play the game anymore.

If you experienced "unable to load area/module" and you haven't installed or used the toolset and you still can't load the area, what then?

thanks for the link, however I did 'try' to install the toolset however I never got around to playing with it becuase the toolset didn't install properly because that microsoft something wouldn't install with it. As a result I cannot start the toolset at any rate so ahven't been able to mess around with it to begin with, so I can't even do the fix that is suggested there.

Anyone find a fix for this?> or do you have to go back a couple of save points?

I have also hit this problem. I haven't downloaded the tool set. My previous autosave doesn't seem to work either and it only seems to be for the New Haven village load.

I had the same problem but it appears to have been solved. The cause appears to be a faulty installation by Origin due to Windows 7's User Account Control. Earlier when Origin attempted to install Dragon Age: Origins it freezes and seemed unable to finish(or begin) the installation. So far I've only been able to install the game manually(locating the game folder etc.). By disabling the UAC completely and reinstalling through Origin I was able to load the Redcliffe area and so far I had no other problems. I had previously run Origin as administrator but that wasn't enough. I needed to completely disable it.

I hope my experience on this helps.
