I was looking through the classes the other day while deciding on what to do in Mass Effect when I noticed I hit a bit of a snag in class creation,
I wasn't sure which class had the most sort of white mage class in Mass Effect. It's kind of hard to do that as you can't really heal your team in mass effect apart from medi-gel, so failing that I was looking for which provided more control over the battlefield, it's a mix between Adept, Engy and the Sentinel but I wasn't sure which one suited me best.
Any idea's or am I just gonna have to eyeball it? XD
Replaying Mass Effect series...need a hand with something.

There isn't really any "white mage" in Mass Effect. Though in ME1 any class that has uh... what's it called... the healing ability... that will come close.

The Sentinel should have been the class you're looking for, but they are tanks - not really supportive or team playing characters.
The only two true casters in ME2 are Adepts and Engineers. Adepts are experts in toying with the enemy, their powers are great for CC and are also powerful damage dealers. Engineers are experts in distracting enemies, combat drones and AI Hacking are awesome powers, Overload and Incinerate can deal with most defenses. Engineers are the most flexible casters, but biotics are visually more satisfying to watch.
I love both.
[edit] are you refering to ME1 or ME2?

For ME1 it sounds like your best bet would be a Bastion Adept. They are a very defensive type of caster that's able to (well late in the game anyway) control the whole battle-field with biotics.
In ME2 Adepts are actually a bit more on the offensive I think with Warp bombs. It's harder to sit back and control everything with biotics (at least on higher difficulties) so it's best played in a more aggressive way. But still they would be a good bet for a caster. Sentinels and Engineers are great too in ME2, but I don't like them so much in ME1.

possibly both if possible as it's going to be the main play through to import into ME3.
It's kind of annoying as I can't copy Final Fantasy style white mage XD really tempted to see how it plays out as the "medic" in bad company 2 was something.
I can see what you mean by sentinels being tanks (Have done a ton of playrthoughs) due to their tech armour)
Having a look at my dragon-age playthrough I noticed I was still fairly aggressive despite being a white-mage with a handful of attacks (possibly due to my awesome healing and buffing) so I'll have to take a closer look at the Adept and Engy classes.
In-case I didn't make it too clear, I'd like to keep the same class through both playthrough, but if I can't do that then I may possibly act out Flynn in Mass Effect RP wise from an offensive (adept) to a more defensive (Engy by the looks of things) to be fair I don't mind if it's not as cool as Adepts or any other class. In the end I'd be helping my team through the battle by controlling the field

I love engineers, but if I had to pick one class to play in both games, it would be adept. Engineering abilities are not that great compared to biotics in ME1, and they aren't half as fun to watch.

With healing in mind for ME1, Sentinels and Engineers get the Medicine talent for Neural Shock, and with the Medic Specialization can rapidly spam Medigel.
But as an Operative and then with Damping and the cooldown from Armor Mods and AI Hack, the Engineer can lock down enemies, and pick the enemy apart. Preferably with a Shotgun.
Here's a build you can try if you go Engineer in ME1:
06 Pistol
11 Shotgun
08 Basic Armor
12 Decryption
09 Electronics
11 Hacking
12 Damping
05 First Aid
12 Medicine
04 Spectre Training

Had a thought about it in ME1 I'd go for Engineer as abilities like damping, sabotage and what not are like debuffs to the opponents like overheating their weapons and shields and what not.
Everyone seems to say Adepts are more visually fun to play as but it's no point in having fancy moves if you can't protect your team.
It's a shame they dumbed it down in ME2 as I can't exactly overheat weapons anymore short of using overload and the ammo ability.
Biotics were a little hard to use on insanity as the defences need to be stripped first before anything can happen.
From what I can tell, Adepts while more visually appealing to many people who want to be cool (and they are awesome I will be playing them eventually XD) is more offensive class
While Engineers are more of a defensive class and controlling the battlefield using their abilities and with the combat drone in mass effect 2.
Thanks for the suggestions about the Shotgun, but chances are I'd use an Assault Rifle to fit in with the RP XD

The best way to protect your team is to keep the enemies' focus on you as you advance, so aggressive tactics in ME2 help on Insanity especially since shields fail so quickly.
Also, in ME2 the closest power to Damping is Flashbang, especially if you evolve to Improved.
Assault Rifles are a solid choice but if you go Adept or Engineer you might be better served going with Pistols and Master Marksman, using your points in other Talents. But Sentinels in ME1 would get the most benefit with a Weapon Talent.
For ME2, Assault Rifles are fine, and the GPR is an excellent Shield/Barrier stripper for Adepts to use their biotics.
And the Vindicator and Mattock are awesome too, but sometimes they can kill the mooks too soon.
Edit: Here are some links to give you more ideas for your ME1 Shep.

Medic spec would fit nicely; operative could be considered... too offensive.

ha XD thanks for the advice praetor, I lost all my older saves when I transferred the stuff to my new 360 dunno how it happened but it did...
but at any rate In a way I see Adepts as more offensive caster while the Engy as a more defensive caster so chances are I'll head engy route.
Thanks for the ME2 stuff too, I do plan on doing insanity again...it was fun as an infiltrator. but chances are I'll head to the Mattock or the GPR. Chances are the GPR as I prefer full auto weapons to semi-auto weapons (despite the fact the Mattock kicks ass)

It sounds like you're on Xbox, so this may not matter (it's usually only an issue if you've re-added achievements after a profile wipe, for example), especially since you lost your saves, but if you have access to a save at the end of the game in ME1, you should finish the game to get the achievement to unlock 60 before creating your new Shep, Otherwise, the level 50 cap is hard coded to that character, and they won't be able to get past it in the first play through. Just a heads up on this, as I found it out the hard way.
If you don't have the achievements that give extra experience, this may not be a problem, as you likely won't hit 50 until near the end of the game, even doing all the side quests.

I lost my first Sheps also when I was forced to upgrade, so I at least recommend checking out this site to see where your licenses are: http://www.xbox.com/...eMigration/Home
I had used the transfer myself cuz of bad hardware, and I can help if you would need help to transfer anything.
