Considering One foot in does 10% of the mage's maximum health in health to enemies, and recovers 10% of the health of the mage per nearby enemy, I assume the best way to get healed with one foot in would be to pull everyone together with the force, then crawl up to them, use one foot in and instantly watch as your health comes back. And if the damage is 10% then I should be placing some points in constitution for my blood mage.

Can I confirm that "enemy armor momentarily zero" just means that the talent itself bypasses armor completely, and does NOT mean the talent is a short-duration debuff that other characters can take advantage of too if they strike simultaneously?

Or is it?

lol... 20 second cooldown so you can't just turn Blood Magic on and off. Awesome. >.>  AND 50% of mana reserved???  WTH.  I'm not sure I like this.

You can't use mana except for sustainables if Blood Magic is active, so the 50% only means you cant max out on sustainables.

Yeah, that was kind of the point.  Of course people would try to have a lot of sustainables and then use Blood Magic.  Why do all the Mage specs have some kind of severe drawback like this?

Well.  I am going to have to start over with my build ideas.  I don't really like any of this, but maybe I'm missing something.

Spirit Healer looks a spot on the feeble side.  Still, I'll make it my goal to put it to effective use somehow.  I am intrigued by the Force Mage, but friendly fire might convince me to look elsewhere for my crowd control needs.  Oh hello, Rogue.

It looks like specializations will actually change the way the character classes are played this time around.  The Duelist, for instance, may shine when it isolates a single dangerous opponent.  The increased focus on higher HP totals should make the Reaver more viable than it was in DA:O.

See, I just don't feel Blood Mage can be used against tougher enemies like bosses and demi-bosses... and that was somewhat true with Blood Mage in DA:O... Sigh.

I was considering stacking Force Mage with Blood Mage until I saw this under Spirit Healer:

6. Vitality
Requires: Level 13
Requires: Group Heal
Points required in Spirit Healer: 5
The spirit healer's deep connection to the Fade lends the mage incredible resilience.
Constitution: +10
Health regeneration rate: +100
Type: Passive ability

That health regen sounds better than it likely is, but still it may end up stacking better with BM than FM.

It seems BM would actually do well when paired with spirit healer. From what I read the passive health regen will be unaffected by blood magic. Looks like I get to be super healer/buffer for my party.

Very interesting. Blood mage and Spirit Healer will be much more tactical now.

And Thank you for all the information Naitaka.

9. Blood Slave
Requires: Level 12
Requires: Sacrifice
Requires: Hemorrhage
Points required in Blood Mage: 3
The mage enslaves a target, forcing it to fight alongside the party for a short time, after which the victim dies unless it is particularly powerful. Creature without blood are immune. (Blood Magic must be active.)
Enslavement chance: 100% vs normal enemies
Duration: 10s
Cost: 40 mana
Cooldown: 30s
Type: Activated ability

I really wished the upgrade on this wasnt some bomb add on but a bigger chance to take over bigger then normal

100% normal
well what about about elites? whats the % there?

Knowing Bioware, elite enemies are immune to Blood Slave.

Who else is considering ignoring Willpower for Constitution with a Blood Mage? I know some people have talked about it, I don't recall if any consensus on whether it was a good idea or not was determined previously.

Kind of disappointed in the Mage specializations. Force Mage only one spell does damage, and for Blood Mage there is the Blood Magic must be active restriction, and Hemorrhage requires level 13.

I wonder how Anders' vengence spec would fare as a healer compared to the spec

It would seem that his healer spec of vengeance would be subpar compared to spirit healer, considering most of his vengeance tree is devoted to the 'Vengeance' sustainable spells.  If only he could take spirit healer as well.

I have not seen the leak of Anders' unique talent tree. Can someone provide a link?

I think I had that idea in DA:O... don't think it worked.

My original DAO run buffed it a bit.  But con and willpower were spectacularly useless in general because of bonuses to mana/HP with level.  Something that's changed here.

I can attest that ignoring willpower in favor of con pays big dividends for Blood Mages in DA:O.  The only problem was the mana req for sustainables mid game.  Considering that sustainables no longer have a flat mana requirement, it seems like it would be even better now.

Well, on the bright side, Blood Magic has the potential to make all spells cost 1/3 as much... high CON sounds perfect.

Are there any useful sustainables for Mages that consume mana constantly? Those would be bad for a blood mage with the 50% investment.

I have not come across a single sustainable that drains mana.

Hmm.. I'm wondering if ignoring willpower for Magic, and Constitution is the best option for a powerful Blood Mage.. Especially when combined with Vitality, and Death Vortex which means constantly regenerating Health.

Jeez, why would anyone want to be a Hawke Reaver when you could just get the best ability, plus another incredible one not available to him by just using Fenris?

Sustained
Defense: +20%
Critical chance: +20%
Upkeep: 25%
Cooldown: 10s
While this mode is active, Fenris fades into a wraithlike state and becomes difficult to track on the battlefield.

Its like they are taunting us with the possibility of a companion getting another specialiazation.  Imagine the pain he would inflict with that passive twice.  If only.
