Yeah, that was kind of the point. Of course people would try to have a lot of sustainables and then use Blood Magic. Why do all the Mage specs have some kind of severe drawback like this?ghostmessiah202 wrote...

lol... 20 second cooldown so you can't just turn Blood Magic on and off. Awesome. >.> AND 50% of mana reserved??? WTH. I'm not sure I like this.
You can't use mana except for sustainables if Blood Magic is active, so the 50% only means you cant max out on sustainables.
Well. I am going to have to start over with my build ideas. I don't really like any of this, but maybe I'm missing something.

It looks like specializations will actually change the way the character classes are played this time around. The Duelist, for instance, may shine when it isolates a single dangerous opponent. The increased focus on higher HP totals should make the Reaver more viable than it was in DA:O.

6. Vitality
Requires: Level 13
Requires: Group Heal
Points required in Spirit Healer: 5
The spirit healer's deep connection to the Fade lends the mage incredible resilience.
Constitution: +10
Health regeneration rate: +100
Type: Passive ability
That health regen sounds better than it likely is, but still it may end up stacking better with BM than FM.

Requires: Level 12
Requires: Sacrifice
Requires: Hemorrhage
Points required in Blood Mage: 3
The mage enslaves a target, forcing it to fight alongside the party for a short time, after which the victim dies unless it is particularly powerful. Creature without blood are immune. (Blood Magic must be active.)
Enslavement chance: 100% vs normal enemies
Duration: 10s
Cost: 40 mana
Cooldown: 30s
Type: Activated ability
I really wished the upgrade on this wasnt some bomb add on but a bigger chance to take over bigger then normal
100% normal
well what about about elites? whats the % there?

It would seem that his healer spec of vengeance would be subpar compared to spirit healer, considering most of his vengeance tree is devoted to the 'Vengeance' sustainable spells. If only he could take spirit healer as well.Shifty Assassin wrote...
I wonder how Anders' vengence spec would fare as a healer compared to the spec
I have not seen the leak of Anders' unique talent tree. Can someone provide a link?

Who else is considering ignoring Willpower for Constitution with a Blood Mage? I know some people have talked about it, I don't recall if any consensus on whether it was a good idea or not was determined previously.
I think I had that idea in DA:O... don't think it worked.

My original DAO run buffed it a bit. But con and willpower were spectacularly useless in general because of bonuses to mana/HP with level. Something that's changed here.Aesieru wrote...

I can attest that ignoring willpower in favor of con pays big dividends for Blood Mages in DA:O. The only problem was the mana req for sustainables mid game. Considering that sustainables no longer have a flat mana requirement, it seems like it would be even better now.Aesieru wrote...

Are there any useful sustainables for Mages that consume mana constantly? Those would be bad for a blood mage with the 50% investment.
I have not come across a single sustainable that drains mana.

Its like they are taunting us with the possibility of a companion getting another specialiazation. Imagine the pain he would inflict with that passive twice. If only.Graunt wrote...
