Oi, I don't know what your deal is, but I have been saying that I don't think the game will do what the demo did, get it through your head.

The question that SHirukai asked is then answered by Peter thomas selective eye sight much?

Just give me a link to this guide! Stop acting like a parrot and point me to something that isn't based off of a demo where we didn't have any character creation (aside from choosing a class).

I think that on my mage, I'm just going to skip specializations entirely.  None of this looks interesting or even useful.  So unless I change my mind, this is what I'm doing.

Force Mage + Spirit Healer... strictly for the bonuses...
1 - Mind Blast
2 - Chain Lightning
3 - Heal
4 - Stone Fist
5 - Tempest
6 - Chain Reaction
7 - Rock Armor
8 - Petrify
9 - Strikes Twice
10 - Galvanize
11 - Greater Heal
12 - Desicate
13 - Stunning Blast
14 - Crushing Prison
15 - Fireball
16 - Paralyzing Prison
17 - Pyromancer
18 - Searing Fireball
19 - Firestorm
20 - Apocalyptic Firestorm

I might find some way to add Hex of Torment to that...

The fact that you're still arguing after he posted the dev quote is kind of ridiculous.
"Demos" in that context obviously meant "demonstrations" and he wouldn't have bothered to answer the question if it wasn't relevant to the final game.

Aww, not even taking one point for sustainable goodies?  Also, are you sure you want to take heal with its massive cooldown?  Seems like a skill only a dedicated healer would want to make use of :P

Ha! Its in the manual when you have a predownload it. Says right there starting attributes and abilities.

Starting abilities and stats (if an attribute isn't listed, it starts at 10):

Warrior: 13 str, 12 con, 11 wil, 160 HP, 105 STA, Pommel Strike
Rogue: 13 dex, 12 cun, 11 wil, 125 HP, 130 STA, Miasmic Flask
Mage: 13 mag, 12 wil, 11 cun, 100 HP, 160 MAN, Mind Blast

Taken straight from the manual

Heal is one of the best spells in the game even with its massive cooldown. 80% heal every 40 seconds? yes please.

My only sustained ability is Rock Armor, which only costs 10% (and it has +125% armor with Galvanize).  As for Greater Heal, you may have a point, but I figured, if I'm going to have 1 healing option, it might as well be a powerful one...  After all, I'm kind of screwed if I'm waiting on another mage or a potion cooldown to save Hawke.  It might be good for emergencies.

If tomes are availible along the way, I'm willing to add Hex of Torment, and possibly Dispel Magic or Arcane Shield...  I don't know just yet.

Wow, this kinda really sucks. Arcane warrior, you will be missed :,(

Not IMHO, blood force mage, unshakeable gives mages good resistance, put points into magic and con, equip armour and you;re good to go with a melee oriented mage build that will be more interesting to play than the magic tank that was AW.

Yes.  The Black Emporium has an item called "the Maker's Sigh"... no idea if there are options outside of that.  And don't ask me if it's a 1 time thing.  This is second hand knowledge... but search "respec" and there is a thread where some guy told me this.  Um... a thread called "respec"

Hard to argue with that one, I still find it interesting that the demo and the manual didn't match up.  Just gonna leave that one out there.

Devs have said that the demo was 4-5 month old build. THats why there are a lot of discrepancies.

Yeah, giving us the ability that removes threat without giving us any abilities that pull threat is very... disconcerting.

It may seem like a crap skill, but it redirects threat at least... if you get swarmed, it's a decent option.  Not as powerful as I'd like, but it's ok.

All the abilities seemed to be focused on CC. The reason why they don't let us choose is because its easier to scale the starting area assuming everyone has the same type of abilities.

@ Haus of Dye - I'm counting 4 hearts in that post. You like it that much? Frankly, I was disappointed by Blood Magic... :/
