It's sad how I'm the only girl in school who's excited about Dragon Age II. I pre-ordered it last year and I'm going to pick it up on Tuesday, which is the 8th here. I just got 4000 microsoft points as a part of early birthday gift, so if there's going to be tons of DLC... bring it on! haha.

I didn't like the gameplay and combat of DA origins maybe it was because I was to the simplified structure of Mass Effect but ever since I tried the demo of DA II, it was like having the best of both worlds. I wish there was another girl I could talk to, to share my enthusiasam with.

I hear ya girl!
I got no friends IRL who like to play games thus no people to talk with about games, about DA2 especially.
Heck I don't even any guys who like to play video games.

You're not alone ;)
Not many female gamers in my school or area, unless you count Maple Story ><"
Not sure about my country even... Those Malaysian female gamers I know of are Zahra, Aimo and my sister...

*SQUEE* (edit: you asked...)
I only get to chat about games with my sis or a handful of guy friends... It's annoying because only my sis and I get to talk about pixel romance and stuff XD

Know your pain. Sometimes it feels like I'm the only one in my country that seems to like RPGs.

Welcome. :) There are indeed many of us, and a significant number who hang out here on the forums. If you check youtube, there are even several demo reviews posted by women. Bioware's concentration on characters and story, with optional romances has, I think, really appealed to a female fanbase.

Sexist!

On a more serious note, why not make a Bioware group for fan girls or something, or join one if they already exist.

I converted all my female friends into Dragon Age fanatics. Then again, all my friends like video games already. My dad plays too, and my sister, so yeah. xD

I'm pretty sure the 8th is on Tuesday in most places. ;)

Like everyone else has said, there are a lot of Dragon Age fangirls. We are not a minority. There's plenty of us to share your enthusiasm with here.

Oh, and and perhaps of interest - I have a regular RP group that is all women (tabletop rpgs, ala D&D, etc). It's a lot of fun. I also play with a group that mostly consists of men, but the two styles tend to be pretty different, LOL. There is a much more heavy romantic element to the all-girl group, while the other just tends to largely skip that and go straight for the combat.

Hey there girlfriend! *Snaps fingers* I like, totally can’t wait for Dra- I’m sorry I can’t relate to your feminine ways with my grossly offensive stereotypes, but trust me when I say there are plenty of legitimate fangirls around here to hang out with.

Well, you've come to the right place. I only have one of my gals pals outside of the internet that are into DA, but the rest are into ME, so I can't complain.

I thought you would be more inclined for a non-squeeing fangirl. I know I do. :B

Well, we might be a minority compared to the guys--I think they still outnumber us.  But we definitely have the majority of the awesome, so I'm not sure how you'd calculate it. :D

I don't have any female friends who are interested in gaming except online.  Online friends are the best.  You can always find SOMEONE who shares your interests online.

This is awesome, it's funny how I don't usually meet guys in parties because that's the typical high school scenario. I meet guys in game stores, it's like whenever I say Dragon Age or Mass Effect everyone just looks at me with an eager expression lol.

People find it weird that I like creating male characters. Well I don't know if it's just me but I've always enjoyed it more if it was the guy chasing the girl even with movies. It's weird I create my Shepard or I would probably create my Hawke as the virtual embodiment of my ideal guy haha!

Have you ever had the feeling of being so excited or giddy over something game related and you rush over to your phone, hoping to text or call someone about it and you realize all your girl friends don't even know what Dragon Age is?

yesikareyes - my best friend runs most of our tabletop games in the "all girl" group, and she vastly prefers playing male characters to female (but she does enjoy playing female characters, too, just not quite as often). She loves men, loves how they think, etc, and she's really good at creating/playing them. I don't think there's anything strange about creating a male Shepard/Hawke and enjoying the game from that side of things!

ETA: but none of my IRL female friends play video games, so no one except online to get excited about DA2 with!
