You're lucky. I know two guys who like Dragon Age and one girl who likes shooters. In a town of 60,000 people.Supreme-Jim wrote...
I was blessed to have several female friends who enjoy gaming. Seems like all we talk about when we hang out (which sadly is rare these days). A lot of them got started on old school rpg's like Final Fantasy 7 and I think one got started on Halo 2.. figure that one out.
Anyways, point is there's plenty out there you just gotta know where to look. I met 2 of them at the community college here, we had a gamers club.

I'M KIDDING, stop looking at me like that. ^^'
I didn't like the gameplay and combat of DA origins maybe it was because I was to the simplified structure of Mass Effect but ever since I tried the demo of DA II, it was like having the best of both worlds. I wish there was another girl I could talk to, to share my enthusiasam with.
If you played the console version, it's probably because the attempt to bring point-and-click to a gamepad control scheme, while admirably executed, was still ungraceful.
As for that "another girl" thing, I'm told I'm unusually in touch with my feminine side. So if I put on a nice falsetto, perhaps I could serve as a substitute? ...What, you say that's not necessary, that it would be awkward and impossible to keep a straight face? Yeah, I was thinking the same thing.

I don't have any female friends who are interested in gaming except online. Online friends are the best. You can always find SOMEONE who shares your interests online.
Have you ever had the feeling of being so excited or giddy over something game related and you rush over to your phone, hoping to text or call someone about it and you realize all your girl friends don't even know what Dragon Age is?
Erm, no. Since I don't have a phone, and I don't voluntarily communicate with people that way. And I have, um, two female friends. Maybe. Both of whom play Dragon Age.

Yeah! Or introduce them to one of the open-world games with a billion clothing options for your character. Getting a cool suit of clothes can be a lot of fun in a game.

I second this, except replace "16" with "18," because I'm a bit old for "16."

Alright, alright, girls, I get it, the "sex-starved gamer guy" stand-up routine's getting old. Well, try the veal, anyway. It's awesome.

Shouldn't that be more: Hellloooooooooo, ladies.
To this day, one of my favorite gaming anecdotes was getting "my" butt squeezed by a dwarf paladin in a bar in DDO. I was doodling around with my armor, checking some stats, so I took it off, and he seized the opportunity to throw me a "hug" emote--due to his character's size and position, it looked all the world like he goosed the hell out of my character. It was great.
So support away, my friend.

I'm a guy, but my dad called me his favorite little girl, if that helps (and trust me, that made my sister just as uncomfortable as I was).

And here I thought the sexy ninety-percent-naked lady-vampire three-wallpaper slideshow theme and private collection of deviantART hentai on my PS3 were a crime worthy of the death sentence.
Somehow it's suddenly just not as thrilling anymore. Thanks for that, Psycho, you're awesome.

As for the "how do you fems get started gaming?" question--I started gaming when I was around--no, before then . . . no, before then . . . hmm. Well, if you count board games and the like, I've been an avid gamer since I was like, 5 and I'd play Old Maid and Go Fish with my mom. (And try desperately to get in to play Trivial Pursuit with the grownups.) I got into computer games playing dungeon hack on an old Apple IIg in my mom's boyfriend's lab at Purdue University.
There's been pretty much no hope for me since then.

Now if only I weren't a guy, but rather a sexy lady, I could just go a-diggin' and some guy would eventually buy me a house just to get into my pants. But NOOOOOO, traditional social norms dictate that no matter how much eyeliner I pile on, I'm a guy, and thus must buy my own house. *pouts* Well, if I must...

suliabryon wrote...But I will say the DH does not do as much in depth romantic rp-ing as the all female group I play with. It's hard to describe the distinction, really, but the two games have very different feels, but just as much overall roleplay.
I can see that. I have run female gamers through solo campaigns or side missions many times and found these tend to possess more romantic potential than when running with a bunch of guys. Hell in my Star Wars game (currently on Haitus) I ran one female gamer extensively through a romance storyline which recently saw her and the ex-sith woman she fell in love with getting married (the characters had known each other for 6 years IC, the game, from the moment they picked that npc up to present, ran 2.5 years real time) ... and that just isn't the sort of thing you can really get into with guys; or if so, not very often - or with as much emotional depth. (of course there will be exceptions)

Played since Dark Forces/Outlaws back in the day. Lucasarts introduced me to games after the pong/pac-man-yar's revenge phase. I went the full Monty a couple of years ago and got a tattoo of Auron from FFX on my leg.
