What can I say. I'm certifiably insane. And that works for me.

Sometimes it's better to have no gaming friends than be stuck with a dozen COD pew pew multiplayeer fanatics who think RPGs are gay.

Certifiably insane has never been hotter.

Well, not counting the time my girlfriend from a previous life completely snapped and streaked the whole town, but you know what I mean.

They're a riot at parties, tho'. Always know how to throw those grenades for maximum effect. Why, once, in the life before my previous life, one of my gamer-guy pals threw a grenade so awesomely that it actually bounced off the disco ball into the DJ's lap, and that saved the world an entire bloodline of bad DJs, but not before it knocked a pie into someone's face, starting a food fight on the dance floor. Good times. Pity about the DJ booth, though; I was working overtime cleaning that thing, my friend had the worst timing.

...

And I've sort of forgotten where I was going with this.

I wish there was another girl I could talk to, to share my enthusiasm with.

I know the feeling! I'm studying in Belgium in my second language (Dutch) and I haven't really found any girls here who share my interests. Kinda sad, really. But at least there are lots of like-minded gamer girls around here. :)

Heh, think I've actually known about as many male as female gamers here in this country....though both could easily be counted on one hand. Quite sad really.
Thank bob for the innernet though!

As a lifelong male gamer, and one who has tried numerous times to show my girlfriend how interesting games are, I'm interested to know how most of you femgamers got started. Were you raised on videogames, or did you kind of discover them on your own?

I was raised on videogames and the first gift I remember that I ever got for Christmas was a Playstation. All my cousins were jealous because I was the first one to have it and I'm the youngest, so they would go to my house and tell me what games to buy and since I was too young to play any game more complicated than sesame street I would watch them play classic games such as Tomb Raider, Resident Evil and Final Fantasy. Sooner or later, everyone got hold of their own consoles and our weekends together were spent asking each other "Did you bring a multitap?". So yeah, it's in my blood to play.

there's just not enough fangirls in the world. I would kill for a female friend to nerd-talk over coffee with. Alas, I have to settle for my hubby and my e-ladies ;P

As for gaming, there has never not been a time in my life that I wasn't gaming, thank you dos.  28 years of computer/console games. <3

How do you hook a man? Beat him in Madden

You know that would be really nice to have a female friend to nerd talk over coffee :) I was actually thinking of finding a way to attend this year's E3 but would be nice to have someone to lol and squee with!

Amen friend, i will admit i have been known to like the Halo series, but i hate COD, and i love Rpg's and Mmo's also, But no one i know where i live is interested in these things, so i moreso find myself looking for people who share these interests online. Everyone here acts like COD is a part of them, and if you dont like it, your personally insulting them.

It is common not to have a lot of fellow female-gamers IRL but there are TONS on the internets. (I'm guessing 30 percent or so might not be real wimmens.)

I am squee-ing over Anders with a guy friend who RPs as a female. o____O

I hear ya girl!
I got no friends IRL who like to play games thus no people to talk with about games, about DA2 especially.
Heck I don't even any guys who like to play video games.

I know that feeling, but I talk to them any way may bore the crap out of them, but that way they know how I feel when they go on about football, motor sports or reality tv shows.

Correction, sweetie...

Your older cousins first owned PlayStations before you did but we'd like to hang around with you because you had a later version of (plus to mention more games to play). I had the pre-Dualshock era when Tekken 2 was the rage. If you had a first, you were the first to get a PS2 amongst the motherside clan.

I remember the days I would do anything to experience a PS2 for the first time... Oh yeah... Fun times...

Don't worry, I'm the only female in our social group who is into games. Guess that's why I mostly hung out with guys in high school. Still, I enjoy gaming with my boys, but its great to talk with other women about this, and these boards are great for it. Also, a forum called petalsandthorns - its a women-oriented gaming discussion forum. :D
