Haha if I even mention Alistair near my boyfriend he goes insane. Sad thing is, he played DA:O first, as a girl, and I watched him play. He didn't like Morrigan or Lelianna so he got with Alistair and thought he was awesome. Then I mention that I like him and all of the sudden he hates Alistair.
So sad. :(

Its called being jelous. Us guys are hardwired that way, we will share anything with people......... just not our girlfriend or wife for that matter, even if it is with a video game character.

It's sad how I'm the only girl in school who's excited about Dragon Age II. I pre-ordered it last year and I'm going to pick it up on Tuesday, which is the 8th here. I just got 4000 microsoft points as a part of early birthday gift, so if there's going to be tons of DLC... bring it on! haha.

I didn't like the gameplay and combat of DA origins maybe it was because I was to the simplified structure of Mass Effect but ever since I tried the demo of DA II, it was like having the best of both worlds. I wish there was another girl I could talk to, to share my enthusiasam with.

I half expected a url link with you saying "come see me on my webcam! only $5.99 to join!" either the internets made me very jaded or that was just a weird/creepy/pointless thread you just made

I don't have any female friends who are interested in gaming except online.  Online friends are the best.  You can always find SOMEONE who shares your interests online.

Have you ever had the feeling of being so excited or giddy over something game related and you rush over to your phone, hoping to text or call someone about it and you realize all your girl friends don't even know what Dragon Age is?

I know that feeling  But there are somethings that both my IRL friends and online friends are not interested in or don't know about. So I pretty much learned how to squee by myself. kinda sad though.

Not necessarily true, my husband doesn't mind that I let my female PCs have romances are talk about wanting to make sure I get the right reaction from a companion to activate a romance etc, or even when I gush and go "awww see he loves me". He knows it's all in fun and that I am just pretending. He only occaissionally takes up a romance in a game. We do tease eachother about it.

Welcome to the boards !

I reckon you'll have a lot better luck finding actual female gamers to talk to now than you would have when I was your age.

P.S It is fairly likely you'll find that (hopefully) most male gamers (around here at least) should be reasonably unobjectionable. Was that too many caveats ? Posted Image

Sometimes it's better to have no gaming friends than be stuck with a dozen COD pew pew multiplayeer fanatics who think RPGs are gay.

Nail right on the head mate.

"EWWWW an RPG does that come with a free dress ? Let's go frag something !!!"

P.S. I do like fragging when I am in the mood - it just isn't the sum of my gaming existence.

There has to be some secret government founded project to infiltrate games with female gamers ;)

By now nearly 40-50% of my wow guild is female (including most of the guild leader/officers) and some of them weren't even recruited by their boyfriends ^^

Every time my husband turns on my laptop he is greeted by shirtless Kaidan wallpaper. If he hates it, he doesn't say. But we are in our 40's and he is aware that Kaidan isn't real, lol ;)
That said I have promised to have a quickie with Isabela and let him watch..............

Actually, I have tried to get my husband into the games by saying ''Look darling she's hot, you can *do* her in the game'' sadly my pleas fall on deaf ears.... ;P

Tomorrow I'm heading to my best friend's house. She's downloading DA2 and I'm showing her some of it. We both have alienware laptops. In fact she just bought my alienware m11x so she can take it with her and I bought the new Toshiba 3d laptop (I've always wanted one, COD:MW2 on 3d, cool.) I'll take my Alienware M17x to her house and play DA2 while we get her now small M11x set up with her games. She loves DAO, I got her into all the mods, etc. We both love a good game that gets our hears racing. She is the only female I know around here who games.

My hubby got through the mage origin in DAO, got to Lothering then quit.  He loves strategy games.  There's usually three computers in our house with games on them all the time.  My son is currently getting through a DOA play through romancing Leliana, just broke it off with Morrigan.  He got a -15 and gave her some trinkets to get her back up.  Unfortunately, he's mostly into sports games and shooters, hubby is into strategy and I am into rpgs but at least we all do it together.

I'm curious that so many of you manage to get female friends in the first place. I don't, having one female friend from childhood (and mind you she's the only other girl gamer I know ;)) and being all hyper lately since I've actually managed to get somewhat close to another, living human being of the female gender. And she's not even a gamer! =D

But I have plenty of guy friends. My guy friends tend to look at rpgs in another light than I do, though, which goes for PnP and crpgs alike. I never heard any "OMG Morrigan is so awesome!!" in response to my Alistair yells xD What's funny is the one girl I know who plays doesn't really play these games much, mostly preferring shooter games. Did I mention she's the one who gets bored when we've been chatting in PnP with no battle for a while? =D

It's all weird, I tell you~~ Luckily, these forums have tons of girls so you can feel less weird by just browsing ^^

chances are you're not the only girl in school excited for it or that is getting it. It still seems, oddly enough, that gaming isn't completely "cool" still. So a lot that do it still deny it or just don't talk about it.

of course it's more accepting to guys..but that's society...not intelligence.

my wife is a Nintendoite, I bought her DAO for her PS/3 but it remained unopened for months, guess its a matter of choice because to me her itty-bitty nintendo looks like an iphone and I wouldn't touch it even if I were stuck on a long flight with nothing to do.

This thread has lived longer than it should, can't someone shoot it? I don't see how it is DA2 related either tbh. Oh no I am not criticizing the moderation, since we all know that we may not do that and we all know how the people in charge here like to break their rules.

Don't be like that! I can personally vouch for how well DA and nintendo products can coexist! ^^ Heck BioWare has even worked on an rpg for the nintendo DS! =)

I'm lucky that I do have one good female friend who loves DA just as much as I do. I introduced Origins to her about a year ago, and she's been in love ever since. We're going to go pick up our preordered copies after work tomorrow, and then go to our respective homes and play while occasionally texting eachother when we get excited about something. My other female friends said they're glad I have a fellow female friend you likes it as much as I do, because they don't get it.

BTW as someone near 40 myself I have no irl female friends at the moment who play video games let alone DA. I've had one or two over the years, the last one moved away so all my gaming girlfriends are online basically and most of them are not people I know irl.

I always find that strange, if there are so many of us why aren't more of us friends? And I'm a speculative fiction writer with loads of irl female writery contacts (many of them fantasy writers) and I can't think of one that even plays video games let alone a fantasy rpg.

I only have a few friends who genuinely like video games(sadly not including the hoard who just play COD) and they are mostly male. Right now only one guy and one girl are getting DA2 so it means I sometimes overwhelm them with my enthusiasm but...oh well. Also I think I may have convinced a coworker to buy DA2....so we shall see. To make an actual helpful point sometimes you don't necessarily know someone is into video games until you ask them. For example I didnt know this coworker even gamed until he booked days off work for a release of one.

If this thread didn't have the word "girl" in the title, it would not be 7 pages. This is funny.
