See my sig. Aequitarians are responsible and careful (unlike a lot of Libetarians), but at the same time they are not scarred of standing up to the Chantry (unlike the loyalists).

Still, you've got to respect the Lucrosians, those commercial scoundrels!

Also, can we have a poll?

Magisters of the Imperium. All these factions were created as a result of Chantry meddling in the affairs of the magi.

75% Libertarian
25% Aequitarian

I despise the chantry and the templars. They should have no involvement with mages at all. The circle should still be mandatory, but it should be run more like a school instead of a prison. A mage should be able to go in for the day, learn about his abilities and how to best use them, and how to avoid demonic possession, then they should be able to go home to their family for a good meal and some sleep in their own bed. Phylacteries should be kept in the tower for the sole purpose of tracking down "tardy" or (worst case) possessed mages. Possessed mages should be dealt with by other mages. No templar involvement. Blood magic should still be forbidden, but it should be better explained to young mages WHY it is forbidden. Not "It's an affront to the Maker", blah, blah, blah, but "It puts you at even greater risk of demonic possession". The harrowing should only be taken when the apprentice, their mentor and the first enchanter beleive they are ready, not in the middle of the night at the templar's whim.

I'm an Aequitarian with Libertarian sympathies. Ideally, I'd like to see the circle under the complete and sovereign authority of the enchanters, entirely divorced from Chantry oversight. However within this framework, there would be a need for a set of laws and regulations, and certain mages would be trained specifically to hunt and kill apostates. To live as a mage outside the circle would be strictly forbidden, and all children with magical gifts would be required to submit to the circle for training and guidance. That said, I think communal living areas should be built in the cities to allow satellite groups to be close to people they can help, as well as to live with greater freedom.

I personally think blood magic should be studied by the most senior members of the circle to better understand its dangers and harness its admittedly impressive power in times of great need. It is not evil in and of itself, and is mostly reviled because it gives a mage the option of sundering the veil to call forth demons. It is entirely possible to use it as nothing more than an expedient fuel for the traditional schools.

I also think tranquility should be outlawed unless it is accepted willingly by the individual. In other words, every mage has the option to be executed rather than be made tranquil. Some people, including myself, would view tranquility as fate worse than death.

Lucrosians. Who needs freedom when you have money to buy a circle tower the size of a city?

(I only had one experiment where I actually stopped to make a mage that actually went, "Well, I've got magic. MIght as well use it!"  He hated getting hismelf in trouble, but saving the world can be pretty profitable if you do it right. To him, there is no freedom for anything, so screw the three main fraternities.)

Paid off the Knight-Commander that suggested it.

Lucrosians pretty much love tranquil. They make a ton of enchanted items and bring in megabucks for the circle. If there were no more tranquil you could kiss a good portion of circle profits goodbye.

A faction of the Libertarians that will NEVER become abominations no matter how seemingly "compelling" the reason, unlike the idiots in DA2. We call ourselves the CSC(Common Sense Crew).

Aequitarians, I thing magic is a great thing that can help better the world if used properly, and that also ties me a bit with Libertarians because the best watchers and teachers of mages are other mages. We can take care of our own without the Templars or Chantry breathing down our necks, and I believe in studying blood magic in limited tests and studies. All knowledge is worth having.
I do like the idea of Isolationism though. Shipping all the mages into one location in the middle of nowhere...not under the rule of the Chantry or anyone else. After years of breeding, studying, and bolstering forced, we'd be The Tevinter Imperium reborn.

Definitely Libertarian....but if the zealots want us far away from the general population, give us Arlathan Forest to found a neighboring Magocracy to Tevinter....so I suppose Liber-iso-Aequi-tarian-ationists?!!

But seriously. Blood Magic is outlawed.....fire is much funner anyway >:D
