Oh well, I'll buy it if it looks good. Though I am glad they chose to give the companions their own look... I hated that everyone pretty much looked the same in DAO, but mods fixed that thankfully. ;p

As long as the STATS are good, I'm game.

It's a conspiracy.

Oh, and I'd buy the dlc even if I wouldn't use it. Jeez, bioware sure has power.

They could do that without taking away party armor. They could just as easily sell armor sets with all appropriate slots (boots, gloves, etc). I prefer DA:O over this crud. They could have kept the inventory system the same and provided unique armor sets to provide more of an individuality.

Just remember that no one forces you to buy it. In fact, someone who wants ALL shouldn't buy the game now but wait until the eventual Ultimate Edition is released with the game, all the DCL and the expansion pack.

Crap I hadn't realised they'd pulled a Mass Effect on us. :(

I wasn't going to bother with the game originaly due to the almost Mass Effect style butcherey that it looked like the game had undergone.

But the demo looked like they hadn't taken it quite that far and had actually kept several things in that I thought they were taking out, such as a reasonable inventory system, and so pushing me up to 50/50 chance of buying the game.

Now i'm back back down to probably not going to bother. :(

Yeah, this line of thinking has me worried for a "we're not releasing mod tools" announcement. Well, the mods for Origins were a good ride.

There are tons of different reasons why, your one is valid

Other reasons

They rushed the game out and couldnt do all the art necessary to change your character's armor

They think their idea of what the character should look like is more important then the player's idea

Just two more

Only the look is locked down, you can still customize their clothing's stats and stuff. Unless you cared about making everybody wearing Dalish Leather Jockstrap, Dragonscale Armor or something. Hawke still has the same customization as the Warden.

They should have done it like some of the older Multiclass games do. In Diablo 2, if you put Plate Armor on a sorceress, it looked far different than if you put Plate Armor on a Barbarian. Everyone had their individual looks with certain armors, allowing them to retain individuality. Though, I do not doubt they did it for the ideal to charge you extra for extra looks.

Look at the difference in game sizes. DA:O was 20 GB. This game is about 5 or 6. I think that should tell you just what to expect from the game, both in options, looks, and length.

I think it may have more to do with the gradual dumbing down of RPGs we have been seeing ever since they started being released for consoles.

Yeah, no.

We already know of the length and options and we've seen the looks. Unless 40-50 hours is considered short nowadays.

We all know this? Do we really. Maybe it is just so the companions look would always fit their character. Try dressing Morrigan in DAO up in a chantry robe and take that seriously. Any armor will fit your character since you develop his/her personality or style. But for the companions who has built in personalities, this does not always fit.

Suits me. I won't have to buy the alternate armors for DAO any more than I had to buy them for ME2.

i was hoping, in the in-game shops, there'd be clothes exclusive to the other characters...

odd... as JRPGs slowly allow you to modify you characters' appearance and clothing (Dragon Quest IX), WRPGs are doing the opposite (ME2, DA2)...

I don't know about you but it seems kind of silly to put massive armor on a character and still show them wearing skimpy default clothing. I mean imagine if you had to play the entirety of DA1 with leliana in the chanty robe. I liked putting superior dragonbone plate armor on alistair, legion of the dead on oghren, etc and having everyone look like a total badass by the end of the game. And if that's not in DA2, well, it's really kind of balls.

The reason for this is that each companion has unique body type and they would have to customise EACH armor for EACH body build thus making everything more difficult and therefore either reducing the total number of armors or number of unique body builds ...

At first, I was a bit annoyed that we couldn't change their armour.
But then I thought about it and decided that I didn't want them to look like other npcs in the game, or my character.

I don't.  Just think about all the new jobs created in the ninja and armed thug markets.

Of course, couldn't be they wanted to give them personalised armor and a unique look and body type rather than generic NPC armor. Nope absolutely every decision they make is purely about charging people more fo DLCs with no other reason whatsoever.

.... or maybe they don't want to see screenshots of half-naked Mages running around.
